A question list for the next Q/A about Retribution:
Q: How will it work for 2v2 and 3v3? Does it add skill values of the teammembers?
A: In team games the skill rating of players are averaged. Teams are matched based on the average skill rating of the team.
Q: In case of a win in a v2 or v3 game, will the players gain the same amount of points or different, based on their current values?
A: Each player on a team will gain and lose the same amount of points as his teammates.
Q: I would like to know how matchmaking will work in case there is no appropriate match available at the time of the search. Under current rules, after 20 secs the TS barriers are lowered to not keep the players waiting too long (resulting in unfair matchups).
A: When matching first starts it looks for a very even match. If no match is found it will expand the threshold. However, there is a maximum threshold set and if no appropriate players are found it will not match you until there are. If this causes to long of delays in matching we will have to expand this threshold. But for now the goal is to provide a much more even environment.
Q: We all hope that online presence will grow with RT, but what if it stays at current levels, 300-4500 people at any given time? Then are we facing same matchmaking conditions as we have now, or longer searches or what?
A: I personally hope that the new online features we have added in Retribution will give a much bigger incentive for players to continue to play online. I can't express how excited I am to test this new system in the beta. We've been sorting out bugs with the first stage and hope to have it in a good state for the public. That being said, we intend to keep a very close eye on all of the things you are concerned about. If modification is required then it will most likely happen.
Q: Final question. Under current conditions, "unfavoured player" button doesn't work sometimes. That is, if I mark a player as unfavoured, the search will still choose him for me.
A: This was a feature of GFWL and will not be used in Retribution.
