When Horus launched a massive offensive against the Imperial forces, the Knights of House Devine betrayed those loyal to the Emperor. Император Человечества задумал извести эту заразу, и на его призыв откликнулся самый любимый и верный сын - Гор Луперкаль. Мусорный мир защищает громадное, прям-таки неисчислимое скопище мусорных кораблей. Оно обрушивается на 63-й экспедиционный флот с такой яростью, что поражение имперских сил кажется практически неизбежным. Впрочем, Сеян призывает довериться Гору. Кстати, глаза Гора точно такого же цвета, в который потом его легион перекрасит доспехи - нефритовые. Складывается такое ощущение, что флот Лунных Волков - наковальня, и сейчас ему как никогда раньше пригодился бы ещё один флот-молот. - Ещё один флот? - удивляется Гор. - И откуда же мне его взять? Наколдовать из воздуха? - Если можете, - шутит Торгаддон. Гор тоже шутит: из варпа на подмогу прибывает корабль самого Императора, "Император Сомниум", самый крутой и пафосный корабль человечества и галактики, а вместе с ним и ещё один флот. Гор просто хотел, чтобы морнивальцы немножко поволновались. 63-й экспедиционный флот мгновенно перестраивается и атакует - это то самое "цзао", которое Гор позаимствовал у Джагатая. Через час от флота орков остаются одни обломки. Император просит у сына разрешения подняться на борт "Мстительного Духа". На "Мстительном Духе" встречать Императора собирается 10 тысяч легионеров. Кроме них пришли толпы неофициальных летописцев. Императора сопровождают 300 кустодес. - Этому маневру меня научил Джагатай, - говорит Гор. - Вы всегда с ним были близки. Ты знаешь его даже лучше меня, - отвечает Император. - Вообще-то, я почти ничего о нём не знаю, - признаётся Гор. - Уж таким он был создан, - говорит Император. Отец и сын идут по Дороге Славы и Слёз, где высечены имена всех павших там, где сражался "Мстительный Дух". Ради победы Великого Крестового Похода Гор готов увеличить список в сотню раз. Император надеется, что этого не понадобится. * * * После войны с предателем Теренцием Сеян придумал новый обычай - морнивальцы дают не только Клятвы Момента, но и Клятвы Наказания - каждый придумывает наказание, пишет его на бумажечке, складывает, кидает в шлем, потом наугад вытаскивает одну из бумажечек и прикрепляет к доспехам. Ежели он совершит злодейство, то будет наказан в соответствии с Клятвой. За всё время существования традиции ещё никому из них не довелось читать такую бумажечку. * * * Из-за совершенно удивительных аномалий у имперского флота никак не получается разбомбить Горро - тотальный Экстерминатус ему, что горох об стену. Значит, придётся расковырять мусорный мир изнутри. Император приглашает Гора стать вместе с ним наконечником копья - и они телепортируются на Горро. "Часть 2" Часть 2 Хтония в железе Братья разделены В пропасть Император, Гор, кустодианцы и юстаэринцы телепортируются на Горро. Горро напоминает Гору Хтонию, настолько всё ужасно. После ужасных описаний Хтонии описывается, как лихо сражается Император. Как говорится, Фулгрим мог прожить тысячу жизней, но всё равно не достиг бы ничего подобного. Повелитель Человечества валит орков направо и налево, а вот кустодес сосут - это же рассказ Макнилла, Макнилл ненавидит кустодес. Уже в первые минуты орки убили не меньше дюжины кустодианцев! Гигантский орк бьёт Абаддона булавой, но только он замахивается для смертельного удара, Император рубит его на куски. Внезапно происходит землетрясение, и Император проваливается в самую глубь мусорного мира. * * * Десантная капсула Сеяна и его Славного отделения падает гораздо ниже, чем остальные капсулы - другие воины 4-й роты остаются на 200 километров выше. При падении погибают сразу трое элитных бойцов. Затем на Славное отделение обрушивается бесчисленная орда орочьих ходилок и трусливых гретчинов. У орков есть какое-то оружие, способное превращать десантника в желе, но для превозмогания это не помеха. Бойцы Сеяна вовсе не одиноки - именно к ним, в ядро Горро, провалился Император. * * * Гор прыгает следом за Императором, а следом за Гором прыгают кустодес и юстаэринцы. К сожалению, они не настолько живучие, как примарх, и потому гибнут пачками, особенно ублюдочные кустодес. Наконец Гор приземляется в громадной пустоте внутри мусорного мира. В центре пустоты полыхает плазменное ядро, а рядом бьётся Император. Его окружает целая орда орков размером с примарха, а руководит всем супер-мега-умный мек вдвое больше Императора. К ядру наконец-то пробивается Сеян - он голыми руками уложил сотни, нет, тысячи орочьих ходилок! Я вообще не понимаю, как какой-то жалкий император с 63-19 и его жалкая гвардия невидимок смогли его уложить? Меч Гора сломался, шлем слетел, снаряды кончились. Чудовищный супер-мега-мек выбил у Императора меч и собрался с ним расправиться. Без оружия Гор не мог совладать с таким монстром, и потому ухватился за одно из его орудий. Хотя его ладони обгорели до кости, он уе... сокрушил орка его же орудием, а потом Император его выпотрошил. Затем Император скастовал То Самое Супер-Мега-Заклинание, уничтожающее не только тело, но и душу, и добил мека, а заодно вынес всех оставшихся орков. Но на этом Супер-Мега-Заклинания не заканчиваются: Император засунул плазменное ядро Горро в варп. Теперь оно должно было уничтожить мусорный мир словно чёрная дыра, а пока у имперских сил появилось время эвакуироваться. * * * Горро - лишь один мир из сотен, составляющих грандиозную Улланорскую империю. И Гору предстоит её сокрушить. * * * Действующие лица: "64 персонажа!" another weapon to use they save horus from a point blank melta shot from an imperial knight the battle for molech rages on. very epic! nice to see the sons of horus and the death guard doing their thing that's enough for tonight i expect the full plot will have been leaked by a quicker reader by tomorrow anyway the emperor did something big at this lightning tower in the past horus wants to know, and intends to do the same, so he can have a chance of taking the big E on as it stands, he admits he won't stand a chance could be where he goes full on chaos, as he's still very much the warmaster severian is with the KE. it's a real motley crue loken is having visions of a hooded man asking him to kill him i think this is torgaddon, which helps with tormageddon being the lead luperci, or twin flames as they're also known war rages on molech the crippled brother has just killed the mother lots of slaanesh overtones, but no kint of house devine or anyone on molech going over to the traitors horus finds a lake beneath a mountain and a psychic guardian of some sorts left by the emperor gives the mournival a good kicking horus kills it and finds out what the emperor tried to mindwipe from him it's yet to be revealed, but something to do with human origin, or maybe primarch/astartes origin, and ascension whatever it is, it's what he needs to fight a god molech is where the emperor found a gate to the warp and made his deal with the chaos gods and obviously kept the knowledge for himself horus marches to find this knowledge grulgor is a walking life eater virus, he just turned a vast jungle to mulch and sent a continent's worth of fleeing dinosaurs, lizards etc into a curtain wall to bring it down team KE are onboard the vengeful spirit and leaving rune marks for the rout to follow no sign of russ and his dogs yet though horus just used the book of lorgar to torture the red Angel Something about the obsidian path that leads to the 4 gods Fulgrim is in full daemon primarch mode, although he just took a thermal lance to the chest Horus knows the KE are on his ship and sends the Luperci to kill them all, except the prodigal son Aliva Sureka is a perpetual and a friend of Oll P. Heading to the Iron mountain to stop horus I guess morty khan called him out on prospero for being a hypocrite and now finding himself in the company of the sorcerors etc so perhaps he's rolling with it? he seems to embrace the plague, but perhaps not aware it's connect to papa nurgle/chaos gods yet? he's on the path to corruption so to speak emperor came to molech pre-unity wars, found a warp gate, did the deal with the chaos gods for a share of power to create the primarchs, cut them out, pissed them off i think by the end of this book, horus will be talking to the big 4 and not a messenger house devine finally give in to the serpent cult thanks to fulgrim they go traitor in the pivotal battle of molech albard has killed his mother, brother and sister, then has twisted visions of slaying a dragon, which is actually an imperator titan our perpetual was with the emperor when he went into the warp gate under molech after cheating on the chaos gods he could only close the gate and not seal it perpetual is there to seal it she almost does it before horus impales her on his lightning claw horus goes in. meets the red angel and we later find out that he's there for an eternity and beats every champion and army thrown at him through right of conquest the power is his horus is now supposedly a god, he's aged, changed in stature and seems terrifying, but doesn't show off any powers KE get caught on the VS and a big royal rumble goes down they admit they're setting a trail for russ horus doesn't seem bothered not all their markers and waypoints were found though so whoever attacks the VS should find an easy way in loken admits he wants to go back to his legion, and horus genuinely wants him back but his legion (the luna wolves) is dead fighting horus kills qruze the raven guard, white scars, emperor's children and iron warriors KE die space wolves, iron hands and an ultramarine who was about to be sacrificed survive targost gets killed, but the daemon takes him, it's samus grael noctua is also killed, and tormageddon jumps ship from his luperci into him so he's back in the mournival KE ship's pilot blows out the window and saves our boys horus lets the refugee ship escape, to spread fear and let terra know what's coming the road to terra is open horus is now on an even footing obviously these summaries are from skim reading and don't tell the full picture an awesome book though, up there with the best it doesn't go into detail he bargained? i dunno, but took the knowledge/power and closed the door then started the whole secular thing to keep people away from the warp and its powers so it's not like he's team chaos, he just pulled their pants down and now they're pissed off horus now has the same power, but by right of conquest, not by deceit i hope we get a book like aurelian to see what horus saw/did and learned of the emperor also, before the perpetual dies, she tells horus that no matter how evil he thinks he is, a small bridgehead of good will remain, and to remember that at the end What happens to the Perpetual? Does she come back again or does Horus somehow burn her out? she comes back. like they always do on the refugee ship fleeing to terra she actually mentioned john as well as oll the emperor left a huge garrison on molech and lots of wards to keep anyone away from the gate and went as far as mindwiping his sons during the great crusade to keep it hidden but it was a last minute rush job to get a perpetual to seal the gate before horus got there KE i think they're mostly crusader host, not snatched or defected from traitor legions. the iron warrior is so deadpan and really rubs the other guys up with this truth bombs. there's a raven guard sniper, an EC swordsman, white scars medic * * * И ещё спойлеры: "Разнообразная вкуснота"The entire final two chapters of the book are a series of repeated Awesome Moments. Loken telling Horus that he has betrayed everything the Luna Wolves stood for and when asked by Horus to join him and "be a part of the greatest undertaking in humanity's history," Loken's response is; Loken: I already was. It was called the Great Crusade. Iacton Qruze fighting a horde of Luperci, taking on four of them in a row, killing each one of them in a single strike and actually schooling them on why their attacks are sloppy. Best part of it: They are Possessed Marines. So Qruze took on four Daemons, beat them and told them why they are bad fighters. Bror Tyrfingr biting out Tormageddon's throat, and because just before he did it, the Daemon was scared. Loken killing Samus. Again. And a meta Funny Moment for Graham Mc Neill when Tormageddon points out that Samus dies a lot. One for the bad guys, House Devine's Traitor Knights killing the Imperator Titan Paragon of Terra by blowing up it's plasma cannon and then firing all of their thermal lances into it's reactor core. And all the time, they are hallucinating that they are actual knights on horseback fighting a dragon. Castor Alcade's heroic sacrifice against Horus when he charges him in battle to try and buy Alivia Sureka a few more moments. His blade snaps on Horus's chestplate and he gets crushed by the Warmaster's mace, and he didn't even flinch from attacking him. Even Sureka, a Perpetual, acknowledges it: "It was the best thing she had ever seen." The loyalists get another when Grael Noctua and his Assault Marines take out an Imperial command base, Noctua finds one of the Imperial Commanders dying and tells her to "Take her best shot." Which she does, with a Volkite gun. (Which punches through his armour and takes out one of Noctua's hearts.) Grael Noctua vs Severian. The two battle it out in the final chapter and Noctua admits that he has always hated Severian: Noctua: I've always hated you Severian, even before ascension. Severian: I never cared about you enough to hate. And then Severian wins by flicking blood from his knife into Noctua's eyes and then, in that split second of distraction, stabbing Noctua in his second and last heart. "Финальный бой"Loken vs Horus. At long last Loken comes face to face with Horus. I was surprised as hell that Horus wanted Loken back and for a moment I actually thought Loken would do it, that he would sell out the other Knights Errant and rejoin the Sons of Horus. I punched the air when he told Horus no and attacked Aximand. Absolutely awesome fight as well, Loken vs Aximand, Varren and Rubio vs Abaddon and Falkus Kibre, Severian and Bror Tyrfingr vs Tormageddon and Grael Noctua, and Qruze the other Knights battling the Luperci. Qruze demolishing four, count it four, Possessed Marines on his own without taking a single hit and all the while schooling them on how sloppy their combat skills are, is one of the most awesome moments in the Heresy. Terribly sad when Horus killed him, the Half-Heard is heard no more. But his final moments were his best moments. Severian's battle with Tormageddon and Bror biting out the Brother of the Wolf's throat was another awesome moment, and very appropos. Space Wolf beats Luna Wolf. And Severian killing Noctua was funny as well as cool, Noctua: I've always hated you Severian, even before ascension. Severian: I never cared about you enough to hate. And Severian winning by flicking blood in Noctua's eyes and then stabbing his last heart was a great way to end the fight. Cthonia does teach it's sons well. Pity that Varren and Rubio got their asses handed to them, and that Cayne and Zaven didn't make it. I really like Cayne and his lack of an internal filter, actually saying to an Iron Hand's face that his Legion would be better off with his Primarch dead took guts. Wish that Samus had gutted someone else. Oh and the return of Samus, now that was awesome. SAMUS IS HERE! That Serghar Targhost died to be his host was surprising, wonder if he volunteered or "volunteered" for that "honour". Really liked the moment when Tormageddon mocked Samus for dying a lot; Tormageddon: He had just earned his way back after a straight up and down warrior like you killed his host on Calth. It's getting to be a thing. Poor Samus, always getting his ass kicked. Maybe next time he'll do better. "Совращение Девайнов"The two key Devine characters are Raeven and Lyx, husband and wife/brother and sister, who head House Devine after Raeven allows his father to die in a beast hunt so that he can finally take over. He acts as Lord Commander and actually proves to be fairly decent at the job, although he chafes at the Knights not leading the battle and being relegated to a role that is more suited to them tactically but allows for much less glory. They take part in the main Battle for Molech where Raeven and his Knight Banelash nearly kill Horus by ambushing his Land Raider convoy, only the sacrifice of nearly twenty-thirty Luperci (Possessed Sons of Horus) prevent Horus being killed outright. Horus then damages two Knights and kills one of Raeven's sons. After this Lyx tells Raeven that she has had a vision, which the consorts of House Devine often do and preserving that gift is the main reason they marry brother and sister, of him leading the Knights of Molech to victory and that he must journey out into the desert and find the White Serpent. Lyx is a Slaanesh cultist and Raeven has taken part in a few orgies and the like, but they don't truly realize what the Serpent Gods are, and when Raeven goes into the desert he finds Fulgrim who is now a Daemon Prince. Fulgrim makes the standard corruption offer which Raeven surprisingly sees through and tells Fulgrim that perfection is impossible because if one were to achieve perfection there would be nothing left to strive for and life itself would collapse. Which even more surprisingly, shuts Fulgrim up for a minute and simply amazingly leaves him unable to come up with a rebuttal. When Raeven returns he finds a very unwelcome surprise. His half-brother Albard, the first-born, who was crippled when he was unable to bond with a Knight and has since been left to rot in a tower and drained of his blood by Lyx and her mother Cebella to use in their youth-restoration rituals, is able to murder Cebella and take Lyx hostage. She reveals to Raeven that he has murdered the pair's other son and Albard reveals that the Serpent Cult is actually loyal to him, as is most of House Devine Knights who have been corrupted. Lyx denies this as her prophecy must come to pass, and Albard explains that she never actually saw Raeven, she saw Banelash. He executes Lyx and Raeven, leaving their corpses in a ditch, and takes Banelash for himself. Unsurprisingly Fulgrim returns and Albard is stupid enough to accept his offer, which traps him in Banelash forever and drives him completely insane. He and the rest of House Devine, now fully under the thrall of Slaanesh, join the battle and attack the Loyalist Imperator Titan Paragon of Terra and manage to defeat it by Banelash firing it's thermal lance directly into the Titan's core, which causes it to explode and destroy a massive portion of the loyalist army. All throughout the fight the Knights and Albard are hallucinating that they are actual medieval knights on horseback and that the Titan is actually a giant black dragon. Their last appearance in the book is Horus seeing the mad Knights slaughtering civilians in Molech's primary city, and he notes that the traitors are leaving them there as they are no use to anybody anymore. It had always amused Loken to hear that accent. Early on, he had assumed it was because that’s how the Warmaster had learned it, from just such a speaker, but he doubted that now. Horus never did anything by accident. Loken believed that the Warmaster’s rough Cthonic accent was a deliberate affectation so that he would seem, to the men, as honest and low-born as any of them.
