  2. From what is legible to me, they were around 1-2000 during unification and early great crusade. They were used exactly like special forces are nowadays. They would travel through war zones in other legions colors so no one would know who they were or what they were doing. Did a lot of assassinations and sabotage. Important to note, it differentiates between them doing clandestine missions (impossible to infiltrate a population if you're 8 feet tall) and covert, direct action. * * * Yeah they have been around doing secret things since the start, no solid records but there was definitely a Ghost Legion working directly (Presumably) for the Emperor, brought up to full strength just before finding Alpharius (Or Was he there all along?) and had a solid, if unpredictable war record. Horus also used them for "Special Projects" but even he was beginning to worry about his control of them! On paper had a strength of 130k but it seems they had a strength closer to 180k based on deployments. They also seemed to have an unusually large recruitment base (*cough*) recovering quickly from even catastrophic losses and obviously had a number of hidden storehouses and manufacturing facilities off the books, see for example the Modified Prototype Mk6 they werent supposed to have (But did in huge numbers) and things like Banestrike rounds and their unusual numbers of warmachines and materiel.

"Серьёзно, не вздумайте!"perturabo decimated the legion when he first took command of them, for not being better than the other legions. have apparently very good gene-seed, with very Little rejection in recruits, was one of the fastest growing legions during the terran pacification, fought alongside the first and fifth legions quite a lot during the pacification of terra. had their beginnings and recruits drawn from "Sek Amrak" in the Auro Plateau, anybody has any idea where that could be. the imperial army nicknamed them corpse grinders pre-perturabo, something the fourth legion did not take kindly too... EDIT: a bit bummed there are no background on their relationship with the World eaters, since they are their only battle-Brothers. pre-perturabos Discovery the lost 29,000 legionnaires and about two million imperial army troops during a horrible Campaign were their stubborness to accept defeat and rejection of retreating meant they still won, but earned them a lot of critism from most corners of the imperium. am i the only one who see the imperial fists and iron warriors as two sides of the coin? unquestioning discipline, a stubborn refusal to accept defeat, and don't play well with others(one more than the other)

"ВКУСНОТА!"Early Years -1st Battalions were created from across Terra, even in domains where other legions had ‘Rights of Tithe’ -Recruits were selected from those with the greatest endurance, mentally and physically -Many were taciturn, slow to talk but quick to act -Used a wide pool because the VII legion geneseed implantation was painful than other legions -Described as grim -Focused on conquest of new systems -Described as seeing the whole vision of the Imperium, conquering and then holding what was conquered (unlike most other legions) -Though they excelled at building and garrisoning, their real calling was Crusading -They would leave well ordered compliant cities in their wake, but were always on the move (massive recruiting efforts sustained them) -Massed shock assaults were the VII Legions preferred tactics, often with multiple battalions taking to the field. -Everytime the broke a noncompliant world, they left behind something stronger -Emperor personally gave them the name the Imperial Fists after their earliest lands they conquered ‘looked as if the Emperor had grasped them in his Fist’ Inwit -When the Legion reunited with Dorn, there was no culture shift, it just reinforced traits already present because of Dorn’s upbringing on Inwit -Orbits a red star -Tidally locked -Surrounded by a vast network of shipyards and space fortresses, master ship builders -The people are the worlds only resource, their martial nature led to them conquering a massive tract of space before the coming of the Emperor -Mixture of Space Prussian Ice Hives and nomadic Eskimos -Every world was conquered, assimilated, and reinforced but the masters of the world kept their people living in the old ways so they wouldn’t give up their strengths through opulence -Rogal grew up apart of House Dorn of the Ice Caste, and became Emperor of the Inwit Cluster -Dorn grew the empire more than any other Emperor, reorganized and trained its armies, and engineered advanced space craft -When Dorn and the Emperor reunited, the Emperor welcomed a massive and strong empire into his Imperium forged into a tool of war. Primarch and Legion Reunite -The Imperial Fists were the Crusaders of the Imperial Truth -Dorn was calculating, but once committed to an action saw it through to the end -His rare bursts of emotion were were ‘capable of shaking the ground and darkening the sun’ -Dorn had a incident with Kurze and a brief falling out with Ferrus Manus because of his unseen brooding that others couldn’t pick up on -The integration of the Primarch and Legion was faster than others: When he first met them, he said nothing until he saw them in battle and told them they had much to do, and more to learn. -He gave honor of the rank of High Castellan of the Inwit Cluster to the Legion Master, tasked him with raising 30 regiments of legionaries, and immediately set out on the Crusade -They didn’t draw any riches from conquered worlds like other legions, just recruits. They recruited as many as the Ultramarine and Word Bearers, but the trials of initiation were so hard and the geneseed implantation so mentally and physically painful it killed many. -New companies were sometimes completely comprised of recruits from cultures that would get diluted over time Favored Sons -As the great crusade continued the Imperial Fists were highly honored and favored by the Emperor -When other legions were unable to continue forward, the Emperor would use the Imperial Fists to regain the initiative, when the frontlines swung back against the Imperials, the Fists would lead the counter thrust, stalemates and deadlocked sieges were similarly broken by the Fists. -They won more personal honors from the Emperor than any other legion -Their favored treatment, mixed with Dorn’s personality caused some Primarchs (mostly the traitor Primarchs, to regard him as hubristic and arrogant) to dislike him, and again his stubbornness wouldn’t allow him to mend bridges (his biggest flaw IMO). -The Emperor would task Dorn with ensuring post-conquest compliances were achieved according to his exact vision -To many worlds, they considered the Imperial Fists the rock on which the foundations of the Imperium were built -Dorn’s mannerisms drew admiration from many as often as it drew their ire (the Stannis Baratheon of Primarchs) -Even though Dorn was so highly favored, the Emperor passed right over him for Warmaster, primarily because of his Draconian and stubborn personality. When in command, Dorn’s personality would cause friction, unlike Horus who could get a team together. -The Emperor instead honored Dorn by making him Praetorian, and it is implicated that because Horus was given control of compliance and Dorn went home with the Emperor, that ‘the fate of the Emperor and all his Sons was set’ Unit Organization and Structure -Retained Belicosa pattern -Schism in predominant units: Assault units backed by special weapon units and heavy support squads. Favorite heavy weapons: Missile Launchers and Lascannons. -Heavy proponents of Terminator Armor, with large numbers of all 3 patterns. Get early assault cannons and super storm shields -Regiment/Crusade/Household to Battaltion to Company to Squad organization flow -Templars: Named as the Guardians of the secular Temple of Oaths aboard the Phalanx. Only Templars can enter as they please -The Templars were the nominal 1st Company and their commander was always 2nd in command of the Legion -There was no fixed ‘inner circle’ like the Mournival or 10 Lord Commanders of the III Legion -Technically there was nothing between the Dorn and his Captains, but a level of subdivided command (fleet and siege masters, theatre commanders, and Marshals) -Fleet Masters were in charge of the fleet in a campaign, siege masters were in ultimate command in sieges. These titles were appointed and technically answerable only to the Primarch himself -The 1st Captain was the only person outside the Primarch who had unconditional authority over the legion. -Castellans and Seneschals commanded fortresses, but retained the title after returning to the Crusade efforts War Disposition -Bulk of IF’s were returning to Terra -The Fists were never a huge legion, its attrition rates were balanced with its massive recruitment, which is why they didn’t meet the UM or WB numbers with similar numbers of recruits -Estimated to be around 100,000 strong at the outbreak of the Heresy. -Had a fleet of over 1500 ships and many more bonded by fealty. -Many of the Fists ships were of the largest classes in the Imperium. Even the Sons of Horus and Ultramarines didn’t have as many. Dorn vs Perturabo -Both were taciturn, both unyielding, both sublime artisans of war -Instantly disliked one another from their first meeting -Pattern of interaction might explain the animosity -Both were stubborn and more so when challenged, spoke rarely, and were brooding (but Dorn is noted as doing so without others noticing) -The silence of one would aggravate the other, the blunt honesty would rouse the other to anger, and once the dispute was begun neither would yield -Very alike, but the areas of difference might’ve caused the rift: Both favored siege craft, both were pragmatic in nature, but Perturabo would be brutally direct and not care about casualties. Dorn wouldn’t baulk at high casualties if there was no other way, but Perturabo viewed Legionaries as expendable. -Summed up as a series of pressures, disparities, perceived slights, mischances, and the two Primarch’s stubborn natures that perpetuated the animosity more than any event. Fortresses in the Stars -The greatest fortresses built by the Fists were star forts -Imperial Fists relished void war -Greatest sieges of the Great Crusade were in the void, peerless in high- intensity void war and ship-to-ship combat -Treated their ships like fortresses free from gravity -Dorn rebuilt the phalanx from a massive wreck orbiting Inwit and gave it to the Emperor -The Phalanx was more powerful than whole battlefleets and was a lynchpin of the efforts of the great crusade and played a major role in the defense of Terra.
  11. Кролики вещают: http://battlebunnies.blogspot.ru/2014/03/o...-3-legions.html Overview of the Raven Guard Raven Guard have some really nice hit and run tactical rules. The rules for Raven Guard allows the fleet special rule for infantry models which I believe is correct. The special units are very fast attack and have an array of special rules which suit nicely, such as a deep strike bonus. The characters look good but I am not sold on the Moritat based character which was shown in the previews on the Forge World website after seeing the legion rules. Corax looks really good, a very good statted primarch with some good rules which include multiple attack variations and also a rule which makes some units have to only shoot snapshots. There are more great rules for Corax and the other characters/units and I think they have done this legion quite well, although I was hoping to see some jetpack unit traits/bonuses or some more shrouded rules but I know they can't make all the legions overpowered! Very happy I am using this legion in the battles to come. Overview of the Alpha Legion Now this is the Legion I have been most looking forward to seeing. Wondering which rules are going to be implemented and also the rulings for Alpharius. And I have not been disappointed as some of the traits look awesome. This includes having an extra special rule from a list at the start of the game and also included in the rite of war allows taking a non alpha legion unit into their own fold (im speaking very loosely there as I don't want to give too much away regarding this and everything else for that matter). They are also allowed the banestrike bolter rounds (see betrayal in the sons of horus section). The majority of the units and characters have some sort of infiltration bonus and have some equipment that helps them with getting to combat easier. One character is actually just listed as "the assassin" and he looks to be a very useful character as he has a nice wound calculation difference. Alpharius is a great Primarch in my opinion. He has a great rule which I had been guessing may happen which, in basic terms, means he hides within a unit and pops out when you choose to (there is lots more to that which you will enjoy if you are keen on Alpha). He also has some great legion bonuses which also include bonuses to steal the initiative and a preferred enemy bonus. Regarding the Alpha Legion I am very excited to use these. The rules are very complex (which is what I like) and Alpharius looks like a great Primarch to use. There isn't really anything that I dislike about this army, only that I'm not doing these guys now!! Iron Warrior Overview The legion has powerful grenade and Melta-bomb attacks. There is a great morale check rule against opponents fire which goes with their style of advancing forward. They gain stubborn with Perturabo on the table. There is a rule which kind of goes against them with turn length options for the opponent, but if u play them well should not be an issue. Warsmiths are an option and can be used to nerf one piece of terrain in the opponents deployment zone. The Hail of fire rule encourages the use of Bolters in before they charge. Tyrant Siege Terminators although expensive could be awesome. A squad full of Cyclone missile Packing Terminators would be pretty dangerous. Iron Havocs could be great. Not sure what weapons I would equip them with but I reckon they could be a good unit. Erasmus Golg is a beast, he also unlocks Legion Terminator squads as Troop Choices. Warsmith Kyr Vhalen is a very interesting Character. He is a great defensive character and looks mean as hell. Funny thing is: He is a Loyalist! Perturabo is very good when he gets Forgebreaker is his Mitts. But otherwise just uses his fists. His wrist cannon is excellent and I never think he will miss with it. Overall it is a quite average Legion unless you want to bring Perturabo and lots of heavy options. But very very fitting with their Legion persona. Imperial Fists Overview The legion is very powerful with all bolt type guns. They also have some very nice rules in relation to challenges. They gain stubborn when claiming cover/fighting from fortifications and barricades. Their opponent are able to opt to play six full turns instead of the roll to end the game being made. The Phalanx Warder Squad, which is a troop choice for the Imperial Fists, must be the two compulsory troop choices. Also, an army detachment can not have more Elites and Fast Attack choices total then they have Troop choices. The Templar Brethren seem like a pretty standard unit, but they do have an option of tanking a Solarite power gauntlet which does look very tasty. The Phalanx Warder Squad does look like a squad that will be used a lot (not just because you have to). They have a lot of weapon choices and have some very cool rules with their Shields. Sigismund in my opinion is the best legionary, and rightfully so. Lots of really cool rules in close combat. Alexis Polux seems like a pretty stander character, however very good for his points value. Rogal Dorn is the cheapest primarch in this book, however I believe he is still as good as the others. He is pretty powerful in close combat as his weapon has the shred special rule. He also has the option of halving his attacks and increase the his strength by +2. He can awake Terminators as a troop choice. Please let us know of what your first opinions are or the new Legions below :-)

  23. "ВКУСНОТА"The entire final two chapters of the book are a series of repeated Awesome Moments. Loken telling Horus that he has betrayed everything the Luna Wolves stood for and when asked by Horus to join him and "be a part of the greatest undertaking in humanity's history," Loken's response is; Loken: I already was. It was called the Great Crusade. Iacton Qruze fighting a horde of Luperci, taking on four of them in a row, killing each one of them in a single strike and actually schooling them on why their attacks are sloppy. Best part of it: They are Possessed Marines. So Qruze took on four Daemons, beat them and told them why they are bad fighters. Bror Tyrfingr biting out Tormageddon's throat, and because just before he did it, the Daemon was scared. Loken killing Samus. Again. And a meta Funny Moment for Graham Mc Neill when Tormageddon points out that Samus dies a lot. One for the bad guys, House Devine's Traitor Knights killing the Imperator Titan Paragon of Terra by blowing up it's plasma cannon and then firing all of their thermal lances into it's reactor core. And all the time, they are hallucinating that they are actual knights on horseback fighting a dragon. Castor Alcade's heroic sacrifice against Horus when he charges him in battle to try and buy Alivia Sureka a few more moments. His blade snaps on Horus's chestplate and he gets crushed by the Warmaster's mace, and he didn't even flinch from attacking him. Even Sureka, a Perpetual, acknowledges it: "It was the best thing she had ever seen." The loyalists get another when Grael Noctua and his Assault Marines take out an Imperial command base, Noctua finds one of the Imperial Commanders dying and tells her to "Take her best shot." Which she does, with a Volkite gun. (Which punches through his armour and takes out one of Noctua's hearts.) Grael Noctua vs Severian. The two battle it out in the final chapter and Noctua admits that he has always hated Severian: Noctua: I've always hated you Severian, even before ascension. Severian: I never cared about you enough to hate. And then Severian wins by flicking blood from his knife into Noctua's eyes and then, in that split second of distraction, stabbing Noctua in his second and last heart. "Больше вкусноты"Loken vs Horus. At long last Loken comes face to face with Horus. I was surprised as hell that Horus wanted Loken back and for a moment I actually thought Loken would do it, that he would sell out the other Knights Errant and rejoin the Sons of Horus. I punched the air when he told Horus no and attacked Aximand. Absolutely awesome fight as well, Loken vs Aximand, Varren and Rubio vs Abaddon and Falkus Kibre, Severian and Bror Tyrfingr vs Tormageddon and Grael Noctua, and Qruze the other Knights battling the Luperci. Qruze demolishing four, count it four, Possessed Marines on his own without taking a single hit and all the while schooling them on how sloppy their combat skills are, is one of the most awesome moments in the Heresy. Terribly sad when Horus killed him, the Half-Heard is heard no more. But his final moments were his best moments. Severian's battle with Tormageddon and Bror biting out the Brother of the Wolf's throat was another awesome moment, and very appropos. Space Wolf beats Luna Wolf. And Severian killing Noctua was funny as well as cool, Noctua: I've always hated you Severian, even before ascension. Severian: I never cared about you enough to hate. And Severian winning by flicking blood in Noctua's eyes and then stabbing his last heart was a great way to end the fight. Cthonia does teach it's sons well. Pity that Varren and Rubio got their asses handed to them, and that Cayne and Zaven didn't make it. I really like Cayne and his lack of an internal filter, actually saying to an Iron Hand's face that his Legion would be better off with his Primarch dead took guts. Wish that Samus had gutted someone else. Oh and the return of Samus, now that was awesome. SAMUS IS HERE! That Serghar Targhost died to be his host was surprising, wonder if he volunteered or "volunteered" for that "honour". Really liked the moment when Tormageddon mocked Samus for dying a lot; Tormageddon: He had just earned his way back after a straight up and down warrior like you killed his host on Calth. It's getting to be a thing. Poor Samus, always getting his ass kicked. Maybe next time he'll do better.
