Forgeworld To Write Codex Armies

A lot is changing, and if I had read this rumor 3-4 months ago, I would of dismissed it as crazy talk. How things change, and how our gaming enviroment changes. I know there will be a time when this all slows down, but for now, the latest rumor is rather big.

Forgeworld will release codexes for their armies.

Please remember that these are rumors. Personally I would really like this. Although I don't know what that would mean so far as to IA books or even if that would change anything regarding them. These changes keep happening, and I will just have to suck it up and start the Death Korps of Krieg army that I have always wanted.

To go with forge world combining web pages with GW, they will release codexes containing their products with all rules, stats and fluff for each army for both 40k and fantasy. These will be similar to supplements with new rules and warlord traits. The prices are said to be similar to 40k hard back codices

Necron Fortification

It may be a while, but you just know something along these lines are going to happen sooner or later. Xenos fortifications would have an immediate niche an people would love them. With the merging of Forgeworld and GW, something along these lines becomes even more of a possibility.

Please remember that this is a rumor.

I got something new about the IG products.

I ordered two Catachan Jungle Guard plastic box before Christmas, at my local store. They've commanded them on the 3rd-4th January, the Order with the content of this order arrived last Friday, and the Catachan were not in the packet.

But it could be a mistake from my local store manager, as the Catachan are not on the Command List. (But aren't "Web Exclusivity" nor out of stock)

A lot of things will change at Games Workshop 2014:

* LotR and the Hobbit francise will be handed over to Forge World

* Forge World products will be available over the redesigned Games Workshop

* no more Fincecast products

* Wood Elves, Bretonnia, Beastmen and Khemri products will no longer be

produced, updated or supported

* roughly 30% of the sortiment will be come webshop exclusives

* all Games Workshop stores in Germany will be closed

As we have just learned that, Games Workshop Germany will shut down and the leadership of the German shops to England.

From this measure are also Games Workshop France and the USA affected. According to our source, the employment contracts of the employees were dissolved in the HQs as a result, with some probably the choice was woks to move or discontinue to UK.

The chain of stores is placed under the direct leadership of Games Workshop UK in Nottingham. Here are sure to report in the next week, the new boss in the stores, as they are currently without contact.

This change was apparently already on 16 January 2014 at the same time implemented with the announcement of the results of the semi-annual report.

I can confirm the same thing is happening in France

INTERIM MANAGEMENT REPORT

First half performance

Sales in the first half of the year were down against the comparable period in the prior year, continuing the trend that developed in the second half of 2012/13. During the first half, the rapid transition from multi-man stores to one-man stores and the reduction of trading hours across the Group caused disruption in our retail chain. We also experienced some decline in sales through independent stockists. We view these as short-term issues and expect to see growth return in bothchannels. We continue with our store opening programme (27 stores opened, 20 closed in the period) secure in the knowledge that our one man model allows us to ensure new openings are profitable. In the future we expect to benefit from the more focussed selling operation across all channels against the background of a materially lower cost base.

Changes to operating structure

We have just announced a major re-organisation of our sales businesses to allow management by channel: retail, trade and direct. Our retail businesses will be consolidated under a single Retail Sales Manager for each of our key geographic areas – UK, Europe and North America. Trade sales will be consolidated into a global business, operating from Lenton, Nottingham.

Prospects

Our costs are well under control and margins remain strong. Cash management is good and our capital expenditure continues as planned. The principal risks and uncertainties for the rest of the financial year relate to sales and the implementation of the structural changes we have just announced. Whilst profit will remain under pressure during the implementation of the structural changes mentioned above, the board remains confident in the future growth and profitability of the Group.

Going concern

After making appropriate enquiries, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the Group has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason they have adopted the going concern basis in preparing this condensed consolidated interim financial information.

We've got no plans to stop making codex supplements any time soon.

The Dataslates are a different type of product in many ways, and tend to be much more focused on one unit or formation. Being digital, They can also be any size we like, so many of the restrictions on what we can make for print books disappear, and we can be much more flexible with the type of thing we focus our books on.

Don't you worry, there will be plenty of supplements and Dataslates on the way this year.

Got a bit of a news item for you. I've seen a few pictures of a sprue with a number of finished models. The sprue and models in question are for a new chaos space marine infantry kit. They are supposedly intended to be a replacement for the standard chaos infantry kit but also have options for chaos chosen within the kit ala the space wolves packs' wolf guard.

Design wise the models seemed to be a mix of ornate and non ornate armour pieces. There were a number of power weapons, combi weapons and what looked to be an autocannon in plastic. I was told that hopefully their release would not be far off and would be released with a few other chaos kits.

I was chatting to my local store manager over the weekend about the new white dwarf system, and asked about what rules would be in the smaller one, as the press release seemed to suggest rules would be put in there. He told me that it would be nothing game breaking, and nothing 'critical' and they would, in his understanding from a meeting discussing it, be included in the monthly as well.

That's all good, however, not the best bit! Whilst telling me about what will be in the weekly mag, he explained how they will go to weekly release schedule. Part of his explanation was that GW has an issue with how slow New kit releases are given that they now release an army a month. This means the opportunity to release kits for armies already updated is few and far between. Then he said "some stuff just wasn't finished or acceptable for release at the time of its parent codex, so now it is, and we are weekly, we can start puting stuff out like chosen and plastic Aspect warriors". after he said it he immediately looked like someone that just said something he shouldn't and walked off.

Take it with a bag of rock salt, but I wasn't going to bother you with it until I saw the article about the Chosen multi-box.

One of the new kits would be a plastic havoc boxset. With lots of bits to add to the models.

On the release date it's implied that the kits would be released in the 4th week of the month in the new weekly white dwarf.

gw have identified a number of issues with the chaos line with the main 3 being 1. The dated look of a number of models. 2. The hybrid nature of many kits 3. The lack of a generic non God marked lord outside of dark vengeance

There is to be a plastic clampack lord released in suitably ornate armour. The lord is mono posed and comprised of 5 pieces. This model has supposedly been designed as to be easy to kit bash/convert to allow chaos players to use the new updated power armour bits on.

Regarding the chosen. All power weapon variants are in the box with the lance and axe sharing the same body but with a separate head piece. Icons are included as is a number of God specific pads and heads. The kit has an "outrageous" number of head options.

Regarding the havoc. The havoc and new chosen/ standard marine kit share a core sprue containing 5 complete marine's. The havoc then has a number of unique sprues containing weaponry, backpacks and torso options. The havoc also boast an impressive number of heads with many appearing as mk2/3 heads with optical upgrades.

Also side note: Your "Finecast from forgeworld" stuff is wrong. It's the same forgeworld resin, just some of the kits have been moved to sprues instead of pour molds for a variety of different reasons unique to each kit.

GW wants to release an update for the Dark Angels.

This update would be to allow the Dark Angels players to use the tactica unlocked by Unique Independant Character during tournament. Due to some tournament not allowing to use Unique Characters, like Samael, Belial and Azrael, the Dark Angels could only play as marines without much possibilities. And with the 6th Space Marines Codex, the Astartes are now allowed to play Bikes Armies in Tournament, and the Dark Angels aren't. It would probably be special rule for captains or new non-unique captains for Death Wing and Raven Wing.

Time for another info packed message.

The icons are similar in design to the current plastic ones with one icon of each type being included. God specific pieces include a number of shoulder pads bearing a gods Mark and around 4 heads for each God. There is one unhelmeted head for each God excluding tzeentch which I think is meant to be due to the rubric fluff. It looks like you can add the finecast (noise marines and thousand sons) upgrade sprues to each unit to get a roughly full squad of marked marines.

The cultist and hellbrute models have been completed to my limited knowledge however I can't confirm seeing them. Release wise I have been told they are due but not so soon, they are meant to have been held off for another wave release alongside 2 more kits as yet un announced to me. An astute reader can most likely guess what these will be with finecast going the way of the dodo.

Chosen are in the 24 pounds Mark with havoc being similar in price. The lord is alas around the same price as the space marine captain/ librarian.

New Supplement

There is a supplement due for release.

The long war/long crusade

The name itself is a bit of an unknown to me but that's the general gist of it.

Contains fluff on what the legions have been doing for the last 10,000 years.

Rulewise any model with the veteran of the long war rule may purchase additional specialist skills represented by the universal rules. The skills vary in price with fear being one of the cheapest skills. Certain units may not take certain skills I.e havocs may not take fleet.

New Box Sets

I had a much more detailed look at the new kits today. The lord is armed with a bolt pistol and mace\maul\club thingy.

The plastic autocannon on the standard squad sprue is suitable long and dangerous looking. It has the option of being belt or box mag fed. One of the chaos torso is basically a giant mutated demonic face with a piece that glues in in between the torso and legs to represent a big ole mouth.

The chosen/ regular marine kit has 4 sprues. Two core marine sprues that build 5 complete marines each with either bolter of ccw and bolt pistol. It should be noted that not all ccw are chainblades. The arms are the new style wrist and hand on the gun. There's then the command/ chosen sprue which contains power, special, heavy and combi weapons. This sprue also includes torso and head options along with lots of add on pieces. The final sprue contains all your god bits and icons and is smaller than the other sprues
