Учитывая специфику его Легиона, и его "трудное детство", по другому быть не могло. Им надобыло к Саламандрам и Железноруким просачиваться, они парни - простодушные.

в таком контексте и макнил пишет про циклопа который вполне себе каноничный и у дэна русс такой какой есть.

у меня нет штрафников и что он там про эльдар написал, но почитав тут ангелов я честно признаться не ощущаю охов и ахов.

Я читал в оригинале. Книга хорошая. Обе книги. Опять же, у них направленность немного другая.

At the end of the book, Omegon declares to the representative of the Cabal that he has no need of the Cabal any more, and throws him/it out of an airlock. But throughout the book, the Alpha Legion were prosecuting a war against the Raven Guard, explicitly for the purpose of following the Cabal's plan, or so it seemed.

However, the Raven Guard themselves had been attempting to rebuild their legion using gene data obtained from the Emperor, and as such were able to turn 10-year-old boys into full-grown Marines within just over three days... which was completely silly, frankly, but that's what happened in the book. Anyway, the machinations of the Alpha Legion led the Raven Guard to incorrectly believe the gene data was unstable (creating mutant Space Marines called Raptors into the bargain, only these were the good kinds of mutants... It's not clear if they were supposed to be the precursor of Chaos Space Marine Raptors, one would assume so given the name, but that doesn't fit what I understood of their background) so they stopped using it, or at least paused; but the Alpha Legion stole the gene-data and, we must presume, would then have been able to create literally tens of thousands of new Astartes over the course of the next few months. How this doesn't make the Alpha Legion the most numerous and powerful Legion in the galaxy is not clear.

[edit] I've just double-checked the history of Corax. Many of you will probably know this, but I'd forgotten it; he eventually kills all the mutants in his Legion (the "Raptors" I mentioned above) and heads off to the Eye of Terror in shame, with the cheesiest poetry reference in 40K history as his final words. So no, the "Raptors" in the book are not Chaos Space Marine Raptors; but as they were all killed, neither can they have any connection with the Raptors Successor Chapter, apart from the name. This leaves the question of what the Alpha Legion are going to do with the super-fast-growing-Space-Marine gene data, though; previously established history suggested the rapidly developing Marines were inherently unstable, the book makes clear that that was only because of the interference of the Alpha Legion, there was no fundamental problem with the gene data. I'm going to be honest: I was disappointed in the book, as it all seemed a bit silly. (The infiltration of the Raven Guard by Alpha Legion spies was a cool idea, though). It's strongly implied that the Emperor stopped creating Primarchs because he threw a childish strop once the first 20 got abducted by the warp (possibly contradicting the implications/claims in other books that it was because he relied on tricking the Chaos Powers into making their creation possible, so with the support of the Chaos Powers withdrawn, primarchs were no longer an option); so he created Marines instead, because they were quicker to create, but chose to overlook (or for some other reason not use) the apparently obvious change in the genecode that Corax and the Raven Guard used, so Marines now take a decade to make instead of under a week... despite the fact that the reason the Emperor went for Marines not more Primarchs was speed of development. It didn't seem to make much sense to me.

Anyway: at the end of it all, the Alpha Legion appear to have positioned themselves to be independent of the Cabal (who seem not to have foreseen this betrayal, despite their ability to predict events thousands of years into the future with a high degree of certainty) and also have the capability to outnumber all the other Legions put together within a year or two, if they so chose. One must presume their story does not end there... but it seems clear they have their own agenda, neither entirely allied with Horus, nor entirely following the instructions of the Cabal.

Corax's name of Corvus was the name given to him by the people who found him on Lycaeus. Its just a name. Corax however means Saviour in their tongue as we already know, and as Corax's Rebellion progressed more and more of his followers started calling him by that name over Corvus. Though those who are very close to Corax sometimes call him Corvus.

The Legions fight the battles they are best at. The Raven Guard fight with their lightning strikes against the Word Bearers on Cruciax, a small listening outpost, and against the Emperor's Children in The Perfect Fortress. The Alpha Legion fight as we expect them to, with misdirection, feint attacks and manipulating others into fighting for them. The Alpha Legion's allies in The Order of the Dragon and the Kivahr Guilds lose this battle, but the Alpha Legion win. As do the Raven Guard in a different way.

The Alpha Legion infiltrated the Raven Guard by use of extremely advanced surgery. They gathered the bodies of dead Raven Guard and surgically removed their faces and grafted them onto Alpha Legionaries that were chosen for the task. The Apothecaries remodelled the entire body of the operatives to make sure they could not be revealed as Alpha Legion. Then the Librarians, which apparently Alpharius and Omegon kept in operation despite Nikea, removed all of their memories apart from the fact that they are Alpha Legion and on a mission for the Primarch. They don't remember their names, what they look like or their whole past. The Raven Guard's memories were extracted and put into them so they can pass for them. A full Librarian scan would have easily caught them but the Raven Guard dismantled its Librarius in accordance with Nikea.

The Cabal's envoy is Athithirtir, who is described by Alpharius as a shrivelled hand with seven fingers and no thumb floating in a glass orb filled with yellow translucent gas. It speaks through a vox and throughout the novel is trying to bring Alpharius directly under the Cabal's control. It ends a bit badly for him, he isn't dead but we definitely won't be seeing him again.

Flashbacks show Deliverance/Lycaeus and Kivahr quite a lot. Deliverance itself is deceptive in appearance, Corax ordered that no damage be repaired as a tribute to those who died to bring freedom. Of course safety measures are taken but the entire planet looks quite broken, but its still deadly. Kivahr is typical of a quasi-Forge World, its filled with broken cities, polluted atmosphere and many mutants. The Ravendelve, a base where most of the action takes place, is located in the middle of a dead city that used to belong to the Guilders.

The Ravenspire doesn't make a huge appearance but we get some background on it. It used to be a prison complex and is where Corax was raised initally. It contains something called a Red Level that nobody from Deliverance ever speaks about, apparantely its where they did the worst tortures on prisoners. Corax even refuses to send a captive Word Bearer Chaplain in there, its that bad.

The Legion is restructured into four batallions bearing the name Hawks, Talons, Falcons and Raptors. The Talons are the battle-brothers of the Legion, the tactical squads. The Raptors are the recruits of the Legion and the new marines created in the novel, you'll see a good deal of them. The Hawks are the Dreadnoughts and Assault marines. And the Falcons are the bike squads, land speeders and aircraft crews.

The Emperor tells him a lot. Firstly he FINALLY! explains Chaos to him, Corax buys it straight up and understands it quickly. Now why couldn't he have bloody well told Horus the same thing?! He then tells him about the Primarch project and gives permission for Corax to use the original source material that was used to create the Primarchs to create a new generation of Astartes. He also hints that the Two Missing Primarchs were found and lost before Corax was discovered.

Альфа сделала то, что я и предсказывал - стырила технологию производства маринов. И конечно про примархов очень интересно.

И, слава богу, хотя бы толком сам примарх будет показан, его мысли. Импи опять жеж.
