So so so, I shall try not to repeat what other people have cross posted from other sites etc but give my review on the day I had today.

So first thing I noticed was the new layout upstairs, it wasn't the massive long queue and stand at the back, but you walked through a bunch of stuff they had on display then queued up to pay. It wasn't clear so I was standing there a while with a few things, then other people moved on and I realised i had been standing for ages!

So I decided to wander around further. And walked to the forge world side.

I started chatting to one of the main rules designers (forgot his name!!) the lowdown I got from him and the seminar with. Him in is:

Book 6 info

The book is based around splintered groups of astartes without their primarchs, cut off or out for sheer vengeance and even piracy (think Huron blackheart)

As others have said, it will possibly be on pre order for xmas presents, they are being printed, but can take a few months.

Blood Angels were mustered before signus, and the 121st co never made it, so this is the isolated thing they are aiming at. It is basically any isolated marines, loyalist or traitor.

This includes as others have said :

Blood Angels (2 row, one pre and one during heresy, this is the same for dark angels and white scars)

We will not see primarchs or special units, but war gear and legion rules and traits will be included (think fist gauntlets etc)

Blackshields

New units and traits for these,technically almost a new faction. It is mixed legions, sounded like you use majority legionnaires in the unit, think 20 men, 10 Sally's 5 Ravens 5 iron hands, the majority is sallies, so you can use their rules, if that makes sense.

These are also ones who have renounced their legion oaths, and have hidden their legion colours again like Huron who decide to set Up their empires away from the fighting.

They will be split into 4 sub categories, one was explained, which was the genetic abominations,such as fabius's legion beasts, or raven raptors. They have been created and released, some don't know their origins, or who sent them. Great opportunity for modelling these things.

Another will be a started using forbidden or xeno tech. The idea being that they pick up a weapon and use it, pick up another one.

'Bodged together' contemptors so bits of different parts, extra armour kits etc all possible.

New revised mk5 armour and conversion kits like pads and heads to go with them (spikes etc)

Shattered legions

These guys are out for revenge and commit guerilla acts, or sacrifice themselves meaninglessly. Think damnation of pythos mixes.

They are generally lead by a powerful captain, if the he dies, the force starts to fragment with old rivalries and hatred coming from Istvaan 5 coming to the fore, distrusted allies.

Two new warlords were mentioned to lead them one tybalt mar, the other will be good old shadrak meduson himself. Along with another generic one available to all.

These might not just be Istvaan ones, it could be a loyalist Luna wolves group, or traitor scars.

Their wargear will be mashed together marks or armour and weapons, think Istvaan 5 survivors. You can paint them with different parts of armour in different legio colours for example.

New things..

2 new consul types, one of them being a legion banner bearer type. Think thunder warriors emperors banner bearer, a hero that messes things up.

Lots of special characters is what he said. (Autek mor was mentioned)

Mastodon

Leviathan dread

Vinds las destroyers

Quad mortars

Contemptor cortus- this is a small scrapper contemptor, built and mass produced for Ullanor vs 'real orks' a mini me contemptor.

Dead sanguinius in a box (lol)

3 narrative stories

One is scars vs alphas in the pale stars

One is the 121st company who miss sangy.

Knights errant..(err grey Knights?)

We will see two special characters garro and rubio in this book. Depending on popularity they may expand to do others too. Also a generic errant hq.

They will have an option something like 'mission on the sigilites name'

This is where the player selects an objective bonus for the game, and if it is completed, he will get bonus victory points, if failed the most they can get is a draw.

New rites of war

These will be another one for existing legions to represent them going down the long dark road or a vengeance based one.

I think he said 6 or 12 generic ones to choose from as well.

I managed to fish some info out of him for emperors children (sorry had too!) theirs will be:

Marius vaerosian as a hq choice, he will give them the option to take kakophoni as troops.

I said that I struggle to ever use them and I proxy as volkites, he said ah but we have changed them a bit. They will have their weapon changed slightly (hopefully removed gets hot) and they will have relentless.

So actually making them useful is great!!!

Also he said that to represent them becoming more corrupt, any unit has access to shriekers for 10 pts.

Again that would improve the legion as a whole being i5 on the charge.. But I digress. I am excited.

Dark mechanicum / mechanicum

There will be a few things in here to again represent them experimenting with warp and forbidden tech.

This may be abeyants, or sentient weapons and machines like the Kazan project.

It will give the basis of where hell turkeys and other monsters come from.

There is a new battle automata in town, the arlatax battle automata, it is a jet pack equipped monstrous creature combat based.

General chats

Fabius, lucius and daemon fulgrim will be done further down the line definitely, but they are waiting for another book to heavily feature them (after Angel exterminatus)

Chatted about deamon angron, again definitely going to happen.

Heresy master class off to printers hopefully by the end of the year.

There will be revised editions of the red books. And tweaked legion prices for special units (betrayal legions)

Bligh has a plan for civil war lists, possibly splitting to traitor and loyalist core red books.

FAQs are being worked on at the moment for current tweaks.

A possible slip up when he mentioned 'when we do a Mars book, I mean if' so, take that as you will.

Solars about finished medic kit has gone to the designer to add bits to it before release.

Thousand sons / prospero book

I was told this is held up on the model front. The main reason being, that they have to release 4 different factions, and no core (like Istvaan 5' basically marines)

These are custodes, sons, wolves and sisters. All individual. Some kits are done (sons)

Bligh is working on a plan for the book, and how he would like it to go.

This book is not currently being worked on so I'm told, but things are in motion.

They will have a rite of war, and apparently possible legion specific psychic powers, will be interesting to see. And I continue my hibernation wait!

Stormbird is still being worked on, and is being hand modelled, rather than 3D designed like the ordinatus.

New heresy even planned November/December like throne of skulls.

Possible heresy masterclass days, when I mentioned it, they liked the idea and will follow with whw.

So that is the heresy bits the forge world staff are down to earth, and very helpful and chatty, I think my face is known and I was told I will see them in Feb lol

40k stuff

So white dwarf stand.. Not sure what it was about really, bit odd, but they had a game going on there in the book. I don't know I don't buy it any more.

40k design team and seminar

So one was the rules designer, other model designer.

Talked about how the models are done first, then 'cool rules' to match afterwards. Odd, but they all come down from a higher power (Jervis)

The seminar was odd, and didn't feel open and chatty like the fw one. More like formal and like they resented some of the questions. No future possible releases, including FAQs were allowed to be spoken about. Or anything other than 40k.

I felt it a little stand offish, but you can see the divide along the lines there between the methods.

Forge world listen to their fan base and react, gw just tell you this is how it is, and listen to none, it is noticed in the different styles I suppose.

They talked about tau, with a splash of ad mech. I didn't bother asking what sort of re work they were going to do with nids or plans. I feel that if they'd left a few breadcrumbs there, it gets ppl interested, but they have a shut door policy clearly In place now.

The last freebies were, ironically, 30k pictures, garros new book, and an Ullanor pic.(not even vaguely 40k) so odd that they contradict themselves like that.

So after that I wandered into the studio area, I started talking to the 40k designers, and as they aren't allowed to mention that they are having a new codex, it was a bit of a lost convo. There was a cabinet with tau and ad mech in, and I asked if he did tyranids, he said he'd worked on monsters, but loves tau and ad mech more (good old go selling tactics there) I said the iron striders looked how I imagine the (paladin?) knights look in mechanicum, the ones that hunt down the Kaban machine?

He sort of nodded at that and said that they aren't based on anything 30k, so I explained that they are a bit like sentinels and said 'you know, 'machine..heal thyself'' he gave me blank look and I asked if he has read mechanicum and he said no, I was a little taken aback as I thought all designers looked Into the background, at least the fw ones do.

Overall I'd give it a 7/10. But only on account of the forge world side and heresy parts.

If that wasn't there, it would certainly have been a big waste of time, as you'd basically be going to a big shop to look at the things that are already out in your local stores and not find anything out for the future.

The forge world staff were great as always, in touch with the fan base and very humble/ enthusiastic and down to earth.

Games workshop lot seemed cold and far away, always waiting for the inevitable 'out of bounds questions' to which they will answer like a desert storm sas prisoner of war.

I look forward to the heresy weekender, and there will be lots and lots of new things revealed, they are basically saving up on it!

Answering a question.

Yes the gw staff got a lot of 'meh' even from me when they tried the old badgering sales tactic I try to avoid at the local gw store. My words and that of many others was 'sorry, not interested in xeno types, I want heresy'

Even people telling them they don't play 40k and sold up their armies to play it! Personally I think the go part was a bit of a waste of time. Nothing new and a walk through catalogue pretty much. I think about 20 tau t shirts were sold, but the heresy ones had decreased notably in size, needing a re stock!

Maybe some of these titbits of info will be new, maybe not, but there you go :-)

So talking with a few of the guys from Forge World here are a few things we have learnt so far about the next book:

-Will be available from the Horus Heresy Weekender

-Rites of Wars for Blood Angels, Dark Angels, White Scars and Shattered Legions. Possible new Rites for certain legions

-Tylos Rubio is being worked on right now by Israel

-No characters/units for new legions

-There will be a Meduson character that can be used as a HQ for all Shattered Legion armies. As he is so close with the Raven Guard and Salamanders he can be used in different army lists with the alternative Rites of War

-Certain equipment will be mentioned for each legion such as multi plasma arrangements for the Dark Angels and a special Glaive hand to hand weapon for

the White Scars.

-The Keshig will be upcoming for White Scars

-A new bike has been finished by Blake.

-Mastodon and Stormbird will appear

Further info we have also found out:

-Darren Parwood is working on a new knight

-A new air tile is being worked on right now that will accomodate the Stormbird/Thunderhawk. Not being completed until the Stormbird was finished (just to be sure the Stormbird doesnt go through the board!!). Stormbird is currently in printing production. Possible first appearance at Weekender

THE RETRIBUTION TO COME!

Today’s bulletin in going to be short but sweet. Why? Because a picture is worth a thousand words and I’m so excited I can barely type!

Hot off the presses, take a look at what arrived in the Forge World Studio today...

I only managed to get a quick look inside, but it is absolutely packed with Legion rules, units, rights of war and more. I can’t wait to get my hands on it, and I’m told that a limited number should be available at The Horus Heresy Weekender. Don’t worry if you’re not going to be at the weekender though, I hear that The Horus Heresy Book Six - Retribution is expected to be released very soon after the event.

На обложке, обычно, просто новая, т.сказать, "ведущая" миня ФВ, выпущенная на момент создания макета. Т.е. обложка с содержанием имеют мало общего. Как раз в этой книге будут легионы, в отличии от 4-й книги, где про легионы действительно был минимум миниморум, даже без правил. Обещают жеШЬ ап старых спец.отрядов из 1й книги для предателей, всем вышедшим легионам по одному новому доп. RoW, несколько общих новых RoW, а также RoW-ы для двух видов ангелов и шрамов. В итоге совсем неокученными останутся волки и тысячники, но им будет посвящена 7я книга.

Чтобы их можно было пихать, как и воронячих рапторов, волчьих фульфенов, сыногоровых луперко и т.д., сначала на подобные юниты правила должны появиться. Сейчас мутантами только несуны осчастливлены в лице гал ворбаков.
