GW have released the first of a series of expansions to the eternal war missions via ibooks. The first is for SM players however more will follow. It contains 6 missions very much like battle missions. Whats more is they arent an optional extra, they have been added to the main missions rules. Eg if one of more players wants to use 'their armies missions supplement' instead of normal eternal war then you roll off. The winner can then choose eternal war or their supplement. If you choose the supplement then you role again to determine the mission.

The missions look good, obviously quite fluffy to the SM style if play. I think these will really take off when more armies are done (and when a hard back comes out for all the armies like a replacment to battke missions). For now its ipad only im afraid.

From our Dark Angels Rumors Earlier

Whirl Wind AA will have the option as an upgrade and 3 different types of missile to choose before the game.

Replace both Castellan and Vengeance with Helios Missile launcher for free. Heavy 1, Twin Linked, Skyfire Interceptor

Devastators can upgrade to take flakk missiles at +5 points per model, replaces Krak and Frag options.

there was an iteration of playtest where you replaced only krak with flakk and was free. because there is no modelling difference, players could (without adjusting their list) swap to flakk when they saw / suspected lots of flyers.

In the end it was simplified to being an outright replacement of both for all missiles in the squad, at a cost to avoid the above. Either it's Flakk or it's Standard.

Flakk have also (as a whole) been reduced in effectiveness as they were Imperium only, and the GW designer involvement wanted to steer away from the Imperium having all the tricks.

If you want to take out flyers, you need to either run flyers yourself or dedicated units / vehicles that are ground to air.

This levels the playing field for all races who will each get at least 1 flyer, and 1 ground to air unit that can semi-function ground to ground.

Infantry just don't do that well against Flyers.

I think guard will get more use out of Flakk than Marines.

The Tempest which can come in squadrons and is cheaper than a storm talon though less versatile do an excellent job at shooting down Night/Doom Scythes.

Sorry no Storm Talon or Storm Raven for DA.

And the Helios' interceptor rule makes it really solid, since unlike the Hydra it can still shoot at light armor in the event that there's no flyers (or shoot light armor, then again in the enemy's movement phase).

Also, it can be taken as 1-3 vehicle squadron for 1 Heavy Support.

It's no different than the Vendetta/Valkyrie or the Hydra for Imperial Guard.

It's also plastic, which makes it more available.

(For the Hyperios whirlwind it's just a different set of warheads you can glue or magnet in).

Beyond that there are still two new, unique units which are very cool

Heavy Bolters, in all shapes and forms, are looking to be redone, and their iconic Str 5 Ap 4 Heavy 3 will see some adjustment to make them a desirable (and viable) alternative as a Heavy weapon in a multitude of units that currently would never consider one. This is in the form of Salvo. Currently looking like this:

Heavy Bolter
Range 36"
Strength 5
AP 4
Type Salvo 2/3

Units such as Sternguard, as well as some other specific units will have more expensive / upgradeable Heavy Bolters that will be Assault 3 18", and Heavy 3 18" (the distinction being 1 more shot at close range than their salvo variant, as well as still being able to charge afterward).

Potentially this will be nerfed down to Salvo being the upgraded version, no Assault version existing, and Heavy bolters remaining the same. It is currently in playtest.

Expect to see this in the FAQ in October or November prior to the release of Dark Angels.

WD is changing in a fairly big way. They are moving out of the design studio into completely new offices and have brought in an outsider to head up the new format magazine (a former editor of a major successful magazine). The new magazine will have increased content and is being invested in with more money by GW in an attempt to break with the concept amongst many readers that it is little more than a figures advert. They've been working on the new mag since early May (4 WDs have been released since), so I'd expect the first of the new look fairly soon, but it would give us an idea on internal turn around times when it appears...

FW намекало, что собирается выпустить Варлорда.

Миниатюрой Брана занялся другой скульптор, студия была не довольна первым вариантом, она будет издана скоро.

Следующая книга о Некронах!!!111, Минотаврах и криге

Некроны получат новое супрехеви.

ДЭ получат суперхеви, вроде большого корабля.

Будет больше героев и именых в книгах.

Книги по ДЭ и Нидам еще раз подтверждены.

- Warlord Titan? Big kits are a balance of cost in time vs how much they’ll sell realistically. For instance the Manta took one and a half years for Will Hayes to produce, during which time he wasn’t getting much else done. Could he have made fifteen other kits that would have sold more in that time? That’s the numbers they run and why big kits are rarer. They do want to make a Warlord though.

- That Bran Redmaw mini seen but not released? Gone. Mark wasn’t happy with the quality so asked for it not to be released. Another sculptor has taken over the character.

- They monitor the GW studio release schedule to avoid putting something out just before a new codex (ie why Necrons are due now, not last year).

- Some units are designed for a specific book, some are designed just for the hell of it.

- They deliberately put extra characters in books, Badab being a prime example, so that if they have a spare moment they have a backlog to draw on for ideas.

- Next book is Necrons, Minotaurs and Death Corps of Krieg.

- “So we’ll be doing a big Necron vehicle.”

“It’s not just going to be a bigger pyramid, is it?”

“No… it’s an upside down sandcastle.”

- A Dark Eldar superheavy would fit their raider aesthetic, but still be big, “like and ocean liner”.

- I asked later about the low content of xenos in some books (particularly corsairs in IA12). Mark’s reply indicated there will be more in the Dark Eldar book, and that sometimes they hit time constraints or ideas just don’t work and they don’t have time to redo them.
