Incoming! Blood Angels

This April the Blood Angels will be re-launched with an all-new Codex and range of plastic and metal miniatures. One of the oldest and noblest of all Space Marine Chapters, the Blood Angels have stood fast against the enemies of the Imperium since the Great Crusade and it was their Primarch Sanguinius, who laid down his life to aid the Emperor against Horus in the final hours of the Warmaster’s rebellion. The new Codex explores the background and history of these superhuman warriors like never before, and contains new artwork depicting some of their greatest battles and most powerful champions.

The Blood Angels have always been a powerful close combat army and have been made even deadlier thanks to a range of specialist wargear, the ability to field Assault Squads as Troops choices, and more Dreadnoughts than any other Space Marine Chapter, including a Death Company Dreadnought and the fabled Furioso Dreadnought. The Sons of Sanguinius will be deep striking onto a tabletop near you this April – now’s the time to practice painting red.

Games Workshop Group Plc, the U.K. maker of Warhammer battle games, rose to the highest since August 2007 in London trading after it said full-year pretax profit is set to be ”materially ahead” of analyst estimates.

Gross margins have ”continued to improve and costs remain under full control,” the Nottingham, England-based company said in a statement today on Regulatory News Service. Games Workshop climbed as much as 30 percent, the biggest gain since its shares started trading in October 1994.

Pretax profit for the year ending May 30 may exceed analyst consensus estimates by 5 million pounds ($8 million), Games Workshop said in the statement.

Games Workshop climbed 77.5 pence to 332.5 pence. The stock has increased 86 percent over the last 12 months, giving it a market value of 103.5 million pounds.

Just thought I would chime in with some confirmation on the speculation. I gave Forgeworld a call the other day to ask what Raven Guard stuff they would be releasing. Very nice chap, he confirmed the following details:

Raven Guard will be getting:

- Power Armour Shoulder Pads

- Terminator Shoulder Pads

- Transfer Sheet

- Rhino Doors

- Land Raider Doors

- Venerable Dreadnought (already seen)

He was unable to confirm, but thought it was very likely, that we'd also get a set of Brass Etchings and a resin Chapter Icon pack.

He was also unable (or unwilling) to confirm if there would be special characters or vanguard kits.

When I asked about release dates, I was told to start expecting them to be released, or at least go up for pre-order, some time not long after the Dreadnought (25th Jan).

Prospero Burns update

Due to author Dan Abnett's health issues, the Horus Heresy novel Prospero Burns will now be published in Jan 2011. This novel chronicles the epic story of the Space Wolves and their dire battle with the Thousand Sons. It provides a counterpoint to A Thousand Sons, which tells the story from the Traitor Legion's perspective and is published in March 2010.

The Horus Heresy series continues to go from strength-to-strength throughout 2010, with three major new novels and three original audio dramas. For a full list of 2010 titles please visit the Black Library website at www.blacklibrary.com.

Statement from Dan Abnett:

"As some of you will know, I became ill in the latter part of last year. The problem was eventually identified as epilepsy, which I am now managing, but it took several rather troubling months to reach that diagnosis. As a consequence, Prospero Burns did not meet its deadline, and the decision's been made to push back its release. I'd like to say two things: thank you for all the messages of support, and sorry there's going to be a delay. I'll do everything I can to make sure that Prospero Burns is worth the wait."

I heard last week from an excellent internal source that the following new figures are currently at the moulding room at GW’s manufacturing facility at Lenton. The models are currently being scanned/digitally edited in preparation for tooling, have had / are having the moulds tooled, or first sprues have been produced:

• Eldar Night Spinner (first production sprues). Supposedly this is an add-on sprue to the Falcon kit with a turret similar to the FW kits.

• Re-cut Vyper (mould tooled). Don’t know if the pilot or gunner have been resculpted.

• Dark Eldar Ravager (digital editing). Weaponry very much of Eldar aesthetic, a few spikes and what appears to be a sail similar in fashion to a multi-strutted, slightly spiky Eldar BFG wraithship feel.
