This is to equalize their number since an advantage for Wissenschaft was printed in the Spanish book that wasn't printed in the other languages, while there is an advantage in the other languages for Wissenschaft that isn't in the Spanish book. With the addendum everyone has the same advantages for Wissen, and every organization has the same number of advantages. A total of four. Other than that the only thing planned to be put into the addendum is more scenarios. Normally the release of more scenarios is seen as a good content add-on, that is fine to disseminate through the internet, and not huge sweeping changes to the game. In a perfect world we would not have a different org adv in the Spanish book than in the others, but its already there so we can't change it. By doing this we are evening it out and giving players in every language the same information. I read pretty much the entire thing over the weekend, and I like Anima more than ever. The fluff is great and the stories did a good job of expressing the power level of the characters involved. I loved the story and it made me like the Azure Alliance even more (I like all the orgs though >.>)=D The diagrams in the rules section are great as well. I did see a lot of typos though =( It doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the book but I know it annoys some people. Although I was kind of annoyed that known typo's weren't fixed, like Damiens liveless/lifeless text. Anyway, since it's easy to miss things when you re read rules and stats, I was hoping to start a log of anything that was changed or added. A lot of it some of us already know, but it would still be nice to have it in one place for awhile. Not spelling anything out too much really, you should buy the book if you want specifics. It's worth 50 dollars just as an artbook. =) Activation If you are outnumbered you can skip an activation New actions Push (attack throw that doesn't do damage) Slam (charge throw that doesn't do damage) Climb (climb up tall structures) Attack from above (Charge downwards from a height) Rule additions/clarifications Charge - (don't need to be 2" away like it was thought we might) Overrun - During a charge, if you are intercepted and kill the intercepting character, you can continue on with your charge Org advantages - of course Seek - change to 7+ with some modifiers (prowers get a bonus) Escape - Modifiers (Prowlers get a bonus) AoE's hit hidden models, but if your only target is a hidden model, the attack automatically fails. Terrain stuff Vertical and horizontal leaps were fun for me =) Errata (any others?) (Church) Miracle: Once (maybe twice) per battle a unit may take a 10 instead of rolling for any offensive or defensive action. This is considered the rolled value for the action. (Samael) Mystical Beast: May chose one summon creature costing 50 levels or less to start and stay in the battle as if it was a normal Samael unit. The scenarios are very new, but I thought a little bit about them and wanted to hear what you say to my ideas to win them. 1.Nodes: There are 5 points you can take. Each point costs 1 action point and you have to stay on the point with a character. For each point you have more than the enemy you get a Marker. You can score on the first turn. So the best idea would be to get the point in the middle as fast as possible. The points from the Enemy are 24 Inch away from your depoloyment zone at the start. There are not much ways you can get that far. So the point in the middle is the most important one. Ranged models on your points can attack models on the middle point normally, so they can hold the points and still shoto at your enemy, while he tries to take the point. At least one fast character with high dodge is needed here or one with advanced deployment. 2.Ambush 2.1 Defender: Choose a strong model (Black Lion, Deadmoon are perfect) and try to protect while moving as fast as possible. If your opponent has stealth snipers or Dinah just stay in your deployment one. If you can keep your model alive you can still win. 2.2 Attacker: Start as near on the enemy as possible. He could just hide his model. 3.Clash: Simple fighting mission. I hope you have a lot of rangeda ttacks ;-). 4.Exploration: Standard fighting scenario. If your models are hurt try to let them escape. 5.Control: Everything has to go in the middle of the board. I hope you have a lot of AoE attacks for this mission :-). Try to get as many of th enemys models as possible into melee. Try to keep your owns alive and out of combat. Killing someone is much more useful than keeping 1 or 2 of his own fighters out of melee..so standard killing scenario, but shooters can't stay back. Ну и плюс пачка элитных некро-солдат. Для тестирования прототипов в полевых условиях, или стелс миссий по устранению конкурентов не совсем рыночными методами. ИМХО весьма самобытные вышли некроманты. Смесь фентези про мертвяков и скай фай про корпораций. А главное очень по анимешному выглядит. На ум сразу приходит корпорация из ФФ7. Правда там без некрозамашек, но не суть. I know there are already a lot up and about, some even with video, but I’m a big fan of written reviews myself so there ^^ Please keep in mind that I read through the book the past five days (and didn’t do much besides that), but I don’t have it with me now. So if I get any details or references wrong, please don’t be mad and just point them out. This is by no means a finished review. If I find some new detail or someone here changes my mind about certain things I can always edit it again. Introduction Before me lies the Anima Tactics Rulebook. Not the small and slim rulebook of the starter set. Not a blown up A4 version of it with the web addendums and random forum entries attached. It is the real thing AT fans have been waiting for for a very long time. Hardcover, full color and, I can say as much here, awesome. Design What can I say but Wow! The book is full color, from the great cover art to pictures and diagrams in the rule section to full color character art and even some new artwork and sketches to accompany the fluff section. A couple of character artworks where changed a bit, like the Legacy of Solomon which is no longer the gold/black but a fresher chrome color, more in line with the other gears of Wissenschaft. All the artwork looks even better in the book than on the little cards or on the computer screen. My only gripe when it comes to art is a section after the organization pages depicting all the miniatures of characters from the book that are out now. While the group pictures are fine (and the terrain that was built for them is awesome), the individual pictures are not all the same size and resolution and fail to show the quality of the Anima Tactics sculpts. All in all, 9 out of 10 Wen-M-fanboy stars for the Design. Rules Not much to say here. All the rules are thoroughly explained, accompanied by great diagrams and in-game pictures that leave little room for speculation on the basic rules. All the new rules and errata of the web addendums also made it into the book. Every character shown in the organization pages has his full stats and abilities on display, as well, all the advantage chards are described and the different teams and their additional skills and abilities are also shown. 10 out of 10 rules-lawyer stars. Fluff For want of a better term, I count all the history, organization background and character bios to Fluff. And this section is of really high-quality. It starts out with a detailed history of the Anima world and the big players in it. This might not be as detailed as in the RPG books, but place is limited and for me, Tactics’ focus has always been on the combat side of things anyway. After the main history section come the organizations. They start out with a two page overview and a small text box for all the teams of the organization. On the following pages, you will find almost every character released for the organization in Saga I&II. Some even got double pages with a giant and throughout the book beautiful artwork. There are even a couple of characters in it that were not yet released, like the Morrigan or Azur Alliance problem child Maximo Ligori. Every character has a detailed biography that explains their background and role in the Anima world. These descriptions do get a bit repetitive after a few characters. Most of them are either super-fighters, have a mysterious unknown background, have lost parents/children/family/all that is dear and loved, or a mix of the above. I love it nonetheless, as it helps me get into the head of my characters and adds a lot of flavor to the narrative games I like to play. One thing irks me, and that is the “measurements” detailed for every female character in their bio. To keep this review suitable for children, I will not recount what my girlfriend had to say about those. To be honest, I’m not a fan of it either. I guess it was intended as a humorous pun on the sexy female character design of Tactics, or maybe even a cultural reference I don’t get. However, it doesn’t add anything to the background story. The numbers seem to be just random derivations of 90-60-90 anyway and often don’t even make sense if you compare numbers and artworks of different Anima ladies. Something has to be quite perfect for a reviewer to find such a little nitpick, so I’ll give the fluff section 9.5 of 10 Drama stars. Extras This book is packed. The rules and fluff are described in great detail. There’s not much room for extras in it, but some made it anyway. We get the obligatory quick reference chart with a summary of the rules you need to play, a great two page map of Gaia and a page that shows the RPG level of all the characters in the game. For me, this actually gives a much better overview of how strong characters would be in real life than the level values of Tactics. What I miss is something similar to army lists in Warhammer and Warhammer 40k books: One or two pages listing all the characters with faction and level value and the advantage cards with prerequisites and cost would have really helped with quickly building and combining parties. Again, I nitpick. The appendix has almost everything an appendix needs. Thus I grant the appendix 9 out of 10 intestine-pun-intended stars. English localization Some save the best until the end, I saved the worst. I knew the RPG book is a great book but I also knew that it was full of mistakes and mistranslations. Sadly, the Tactics book is only marginally better. It starts on page one where the book was developed and “writed”. Not a good start. While the rules section seems to retain a better level of English, the fluff and character descriptions vary a lot in quality. Some are great pieces of writing with only minor mistakes; others are disasters where you have to read sentences two or three times to understand what was meant. There are also a couple of layout mistakes where a skill description starts in a different language or ends in some nonsensical addition of words. None of these mistakes make anything completely meaningless or indecipherable, but it does interrupt reading flow and lessens the overall quality of the book. Sorry guys and gals, but for the localization you only get 6 out of 10 How-could-you stars. Summary Design 9/10 Rules 10/10 Fluff 9.5/10 Extras 9/10 Localization 6/10 Overall a score of 8.7/10 for the English version of the Anima Tactics rulebook. To be honest, if it wasn’t for the mediocre localization, the score would be even higher. The book is everything we fans have been waiting for. We now have info on all our favorite characters and organizations; we have all the rules finally in one source; we have so many pretty pictures to look at we won’t need TV and windows for weeks. And much more importantly, we have the perfect means to seduce new players into starting Anima Tactics. If I were a Free Agent, I’d be in tears of joy. So what are numbers anyway? Screw numbers. Get this book or regret it. Скорее всего это будет Дункан Райд. Тем самым уберут сразу две проблемы - появится альтернатива старой достаточно убогой мини и обновится карточка статов, подвергшаяся ревайзу в Основном Рульбуке. Advantage Card: Nephiros Equipment Type: all Every time you kill a enemy unit you restore 1 action point Automatic lvl: +5 ---- She is a really solid character for 45 points, although she is built a bit like an Empire character, with Critical Mastery and no bonus to attack outside of Charge, or her Berserk ability. She has quite a bit of LP and her base damage is good, her Wraith of Spirits is a great ability to blow past bothersome things like Seal or Paralyze. I'm not fond with the idea of this great unit being unveiled so soon as it was one of the main "dishes" of the news to be released in the next months; but with the organizers of the 2nd upcoming National Tournament of Spain spoiling the stats for the bazillion of new characters Cypher has sent them as prizes in order to sponsor the tournament, I guess It couldn't be helped... Empire players can rejoice now with their own defensive version of Konosuke which also adds support abilities to the Empire, a much needed resource in this organization. Macbeth is such an incredible useful unit that it's going to become a classic choice in many Empire lists. Certainly, he won't change the way Wissenschaft plays but adds another solid front line fighter to this Organization with some interesting surprises. Hiro Warrior Wissenschaft/Light Level 50 At: 5 Dmg: 3 Def: 10 Arm: 1 LP: 14 Rst: 10 Mov 30/40cm (12/16 inch) ARec/Acp:3/4 Equipment: Hiro may be assigned up to 2 Advantage Cards. Posing: Whenever Hiro destroys an enemy Unit he loses 1 Action Point. If he has no Action Points, then he suffers Slow Lv. 1 instead. OOOO Rider Kick(Ki, Charge) +4 Attack / +2 Damage / -2 to the target’s Armor. This Attack causes Throw. OOO Shooting StarFlash (Ki, Ranged Attack) Distance 8 inches. +4 Attack. This Attack causes Throw. OOO Garo Fang (Ki, Attack) +5 Attack. This Attack causes Throw. O Ultra Finisher(Ki, Ranged attack) Distance 16 inches. +5 Attack, +2 Damage. Type: Equipment Category: Hiro Only Actions: O Level: +20 Only Hiro can carry this card. If at any time during his activation Hiro has 7 or less Life Points, he may be replaced in the game with a Theurgia Gear piloted by Hiro. All enemy units engaged with Hiro are moved 2 inches away from him to make room for Theurgia Gear. If for some reason it would be impossible to place the Theurgia Gear, then this card cannot be used. The Theurgia Gear comes into play with no Action Points but with full Life Points. The Victory Point value of the Theurgia Gear if it is put into play by using this card is 50. And here you have Wissenschaft's Power Ranger! This character is a lot of fun. As you can see he keeps the Wissenschaft 's flavour but also it has been blended with multiple references to the Sentai genre. The "Rider Kick" it's a reference to Kamen Rider serie, while Shooting Starflash is the Energy Beam UltraMan shoots when Crossing his arms in a inverted T shape. "Ultrafinisher" is another classic attack where the Sentai hero accumulates all his energy to liberate it in a final devastating attack that completely depletes him, thus if he fails to destroy the enemy he's pretty much defeated. Like in any Power Rangers episode, when our heroes get their asses severely beaten it's time to call for the mighty Megazord (or whatever big robot they have), here Red Theurgia makes reference to the Red member which plays the Leader role in any Sentai group. (there might be Blue, Yellow, Pink, Black,... But Red is always the leader). And finally, like any worthy Sentai warrior, Hiro can't stand to do his excentric dances and odd cool poses, which is represented in the added flaw "Posing" which serves to add flavour as well as a humoristic point to the character while acting as a balancing factor because you must keep in mind allmost all his attacks are highly accurate and cause throw! By the way, you can't still play "Red Theurgia!!! Go!!!". It's included here just as a teaser and because it was the only option to place that card!
