Rick Priestley will be on hand to explain his future plans, and Book Production Manager Paul Rudge and Graphic Artist Sam Lamont will be displaying a dizzying array of their incredible work-in-progress example pages from the first Warhammer Forge book, and some phenomenal artwork from Games Workshop artistic stalwart Adrian Smith, as well as everything from single page vignettes to concept sketches and full-colour cover art.

The Warhammer Forge Studio team will be located right next to the Forge World Design Studio stand in the Arena – a map of Games Day can be found here.

You’ll be able to quiz the whole Warhammer Forge design team on the future of this exciting new range, and as an added bonus two of the resin kits on display will be available as advanced pre-releases from the Forge World Sales Stand in strictly limited quantities – details of exactly what these are will be unveiled at Games Day, so don’t miss the Warhammer Forge Studio Stand!

Tamur has taken the form of an Ogre as he takes on the form of whatever he kills (according to Rick). Otherwise he is just a big maggot or a lot of small maggots which are release when he is wounded. Rick said that CD are definitely not an army list, and I guess I should've looked harder at the artwork as I had the impression it would be warmachines and crew only?

He also said there are plans for a mammoth with ogres on it (or equivalent) and in one of the seminars they promised lots of big plastic monsters for next year. The rules/scenarios are not written for the first book apparently. Rick wants to playtest a 24' x 12' board and no one will let him have the space (or something equally ludicrous). Lots of stunning detail, narrative and he expects it to go on for at least the next 6 years or so, with around 2 books a year if all goes to plan. He also mentioned normal dwarves for book 2! (I kept pressing as a dwarf player. I was mainly confused as there was no dwarf involvement despite this fella seemingly marching over the world's edge mountains to get to the Empire!)

All in all, rather excited about the project. Rick basically wants to muck around with the timeline and advance it in these books (he hates the sales driven campaigns and wants to leave the Empire in a complete state of disrepair). The first book either starts or ends with the emperor presumed dead along with all or most of the counts

"клац"
- the Empire kits on display were largely done as tests (except the Demi griffon guy and the land ship), the ones on show likely wo t be produced (the fits weren't tight enough) but they will likely re-work them and then release.

They can't start making FW versions of regular infantry units as that treads on the studios toes, so they intend to do upgrade kits to get around this.

- the warhammer books are likely to follow the same template as AI books - a storyline, characters, army lists, special rules and figures to go with.

- launch was originally intended for 2012 but the company want to start seeing a return on the investment in design so they will likely launch in early 2011 with 6-8 pieces and then a second wave to follow shortly after.

- lots of bespoke Adrian Smith artwork will feature in the first book.

- I saw Ostermark mentioned on one page before Rick flipped through to show me more of the design elements.

- the dragon is likely to get riders (Empire one was defo mentioned).

Could go the computer game (mmo) way and just shorten it to WAR Forge

I was told that the Chaos Dwarfs would be the artillery and engineering corps of the Chaos forces, rather than a full army of their own - the landtrain-style warmachines would be the main focus of that race.

He also mentioned that they'll cover the main races; this first book will be Nurgle vs the Empire since it was in his words "the easiest to write", and subsequent ones will be something along the lines of Tzeentch vs the Elves, Khorne vs the Dwarfs and Slaanesh vs Lizardmen, something like that.

[...] all the elector counts are killed the only remaining electors are the cult of sigmar , ulric and Esme Stoutheart ( The halfling).

Stoutheart becomes the emperor, this lasts for a short while

The emperor has a son, he was kidnapped by orcs and sold to chaos slavers , he's a dark sorceror.

the nurgle invasion starts just north of the mouuntains of mourn. some ogres fight against chaos, some join chaos. they then move on through the steppes and dark lands, picking up chaos dwarf and greenskin (hobgoblin) allies and fight thier way over the mountains and along the reik towards marienburg. at some point the nurgle lord bathes in the reik and turns it to pus.

the plague toads are either daemons who have used the befouled reik as a warp rift or possessed/mutated wildlife from the river. they said they were think about leaving it vague and letting the reader speculate on thier origin.

First off Rick said that the conclusion of this campaign (all the books) would be not just the end of the empire but the entire warhammer world hence definitely an alternative / future timeline

The Nurgle heading west part would be split between two books the first of which the Tamurkhan would be out early next year with the production cycle being ~3 months and starting in November so around February release, Paul Rudge said that the books are being produced through Forgeworld and that there was one more IA book to come then this then another IA book then a slot which was undecided which could be the second of these.

The books will cover not just the chaos stuff but also the races they come into contact with initially the ogres, empire and Chaos Dwarves. However Rick confirmed they were not planning to release CD as a complete army but that in the past chaos invasions had failed due to their poor ability to lay siege to cities and that the Chaos Dwarves would appear as Siege engines to aid in this. The artillery train was described as akin to the warhammer equivalent of a nuke which would fire up over the walls into the centre of the city and level it!

He mentioned that further books he had planned would cover Slaanesh vs. the Elves, Tzeentch vs. the Lizardmen followed by Khorne. Presumably these too could end up being more than one book so we could be looking at 8-10 which would tie in with the 2 books a year for 5-6 years mentioned earlier.

There is probably more I can't remember right now so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask and I will see what I can recall if anything on them.

Theodor Bruckner on Demigriffon (and on foot) the emperors new champion

Marienburg Land Ship

Tamur Khan a nurgle ogre ( possibly a human) riding the toad dragon.

Chaos Dwarf Siege Bombard (will have a chained ogre to load it with a couple of CD 'motivators')

Chaos Dwarf Skullcracker

Chaos Dwarf Magma cannon

Chaos Dwarf Demolition rocket

Chaos Dwarf Steam Engine

Chaos Dwarf Engineer (possibly also the second one)

Carmine Dragon

Chaos Ogre

Nurgle WoC Command

Plague Toads

Plague Toad rider

Spawn

Perhaps the most hotly-anticipated project that we are currently working on, Warhammer Forge made its debut at Games Day UK 2010. We are excited to announce that the first releases for this new range will be available to pre-order early in 2011, and will be followed later in the year by the very first Warhammer Forge book - Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos.

Keep an eye out for more details on these and other exciting releases in the Newsletters we have planned from early January 2011 onwards.

Hi There,

Welcome to the very first Warhammer Forge Newsletter! We’re excited to announce that three brand-new kits are available to pre-order now in this very plague-ridden first newsletter. We also introduce the model design team and share our plans for Warhammer Forge.

All future Warhammer Forge Newsletters will be sent alongside our Forge World Newsletters so you don’t need to lift a finger to ensure that you stay up-to-date on this fantastic new range!

Thanks,

Ead Brown

Warhammer Forge: The Beginning of the Future

Warhammer Forge was first unveiled at Games Day UK back in September 2010, and since then we have been busily adding to the fantastic selection of models that were displayed at the NEC.

We have put together a dedicated Warhammer Forge model design team, who have been hard at work sculpting a range of finely-detailed resin kits to add depth and breadth to the existing Warhammer Fantasy Battle range. These miniatures will be accompanied by a series of lavish expansion books that will explore the darkest corners of the Warhammer World.

The Warhammer Forge team is lead by Mark Bedford, whose Plague Toad Set is the first pre-order in this Newsletter. The other designers in the team are:Steve Whitehead, whose Bile Trolls are the second of this Newsletter’s releases; Edgar Skomoroswki, the latest addition to the Warhammer Forge studio, and whose first projects will be unveiled in forthcoming newsletters, and finally Keith Robertson, who is responsible for the third pre-order kit in this week’s Newsletter: the Plague Ogres.

Mark, Steve, Edgar and Keith are joined by writer Alan Bligh, who is currently finishing the first Warhammer Forge book, Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos, which will complete Rick Priestley’s first draft. This tome will be the first in a series of Warhammer Forge expansions, and as you can see from the fantastic cover art, The Throne of Chaos promises to be a dark and sinister exploration of the bloody path that leads to the Dark Gods’ ultimate reward.

The Warhammer Forge range can be found alongside Forge World’s existing Warhammer Monsters and Terrain here, and you can order side-by-side with our Warhammer 40,000 and Specialist Games resin kits.

Warhammer Forge New Releases Available to Pre-Order Now:

Without further ado, here are the very first Warhammer Forge releases, all of which are available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 31st of January.

Nurgle Plague Toads Set

Plague Toads, also called Rot-Eaters and Sewer-Kin, are mutated, pseudo-amphibian sacs of brackish filth and pus whose wide maws can swallow a man whole. Plague Toads are drawn to places of disease and decay, and in such places those versed in the lore of the Plague Father can summon these daemon-vermin and bind them to their will.

ThePlague Toads Set, sculpted by Mark Bedford, contains three different resin Plague Toads, each of which is hideously detailed.

A unit of Plague Toads may be taken as part of any Daemons of Chaos or Warriors of Chaos army, and you can download these experimental rules from the early draft of Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos to allow you to use these beasts in your games of Warhammer.

Nurgle Bile Trolls Set

Bile Trolls were tainted in ancient days by consuming the rancid corpses of a defeated Nurgle-worshipping horde, and now suffer a twisted, hellish existence; poised in an eternal struggle between the formidable regenerative powers of their unnatural metabolism and the most potent plague-gifts of the Rot-Lord.

The Bile Troll Set, sculpted by Steve Whitehead, contains three unique Bile Trolls. Each of these full resin monsters boasts a nauseating array of Chaotic detail. The heads and left arms of these hulking brutes are fully interchangeable, allowing a range of different poses and combinations.

The Bile Trolls can be used in any Warriors of Chaos army, and as an exclusive advance preview of what is to come in Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos, we’ve managed to acquire these experimental rules, courtesy of Alan Bligh.

Nurgle Plague Ogres Set

Plague Ogres are vile and malformed hulks: their natural resistance to mutation is completely overcome by the pox-ridden favours of their foul patron.

The Plague Ogres Set, sculpted by Keith Robertson, is a full resin kit containing three individual Plague Ogres, armed with a variety of deadly weaponry and riddled with cankerous mutations. The heads and weapons of these Ogres are fully interchangeable across the three different bodies that are supplied.

The Plague Ogres are perfect for use in any Warriors of Chaos army as a unit of Ogres with the Mark of Nurgle, and will also feature in the forthcoming Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos book.

More Warhammer Forge Releases Coming Soon…

Forthcoming Warhammer Forge releases will encompass everything from gargantuan monsters such as Bubelos the Toad Dragon, to devastating war machines including the ‘Marienburg’ Land Ship, as well as a range of unique special characters such as Kyzak the Befouled to infantry upgrade kits, of which the elite Blades of Mannan are but one example. We’ll be bringing you more details of all these fantastic miniatures in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on your inbox for the next Warhammer Forge Newsletter!

  • "Hi There,
Welcome to our second Warhammer Forge Newsletter. We have two great new releases for you this time — the Daemonic Plague Riders of Nurgle, and Kazyk the Befouled on Rotbeast. Both of these releases will feature in our forthcoming first Warhammer Forge book, Tamurkhan, Throne of Chaos. We also have some upcoming events news.

Look out for future newsletters, and more exciting releases for Warhammer Empire and Chaos.

    Thanks,
    Ead Brown

    Nurgle Plague Riders Set
The foetid mere that serves the Plague Father as a realm has spawned all manner of daemonic beasts, and the lesser of these such as Plague Toads, are often corralled and herded into battle as mounts by Nurgle’s Plaguebearers, who go lolloping into battle atop these verminous horrors to taint and slaughter mortals, in a tide of nightmarish horrors.

The Plague Riders Set, sculpted by Mark Bedford, contains three detailed resin Plaguebearers that can be used in conjunction with the recently-released Plague Toads Set to create a deadly unit of Daemonic cavalry, the fell Pox Leapers, (which will be fully detailed in the forthcoming Throne of Chaos book), or used to create your own daemonic or Nurgle-tainted cavalry models and conversions.

The Plague Riders Set is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th of February.

    Kazyk the Befouled on Rotbeast
Lieutenant to the mighty Tamurkhan the Maggot Lord himself, the fell champion Kazyk, known as the Befouled, is little more than a rotting sack of putrescence held together by the will to destroy. Such are the rotting blessings gifted to him that he must be all but hacked apart before his malefic spirit will cease to be.

Kazyk the Befouled on Rotbeast, sculpted by Mark Bedford, makes a perfect Champion of Nurgle on Daemonic Steed for any Warriors of Chaos army. This full resin character boasts a repulsive array of mutations and plague-gifts and makes a great army centrepiece for your Nurgle horde. Full rules and background for this character will be found in our forthcoming book.

Kazyk the Befouled is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th of February.

Warhammer Forge at Forge World Events
AdeptiCon, the Forge World Open Day and Salute — three exciting events that Forge World will be attending in 2011, and three events at which you’ll be able to purchase both the exciting pre-orders in this Newsletter and the recently-released Plague Toads, Bile Trolls and Plague Ogres, as well as a few other items that we will unveil in the not-too-distant future.

AdeptiCon is held at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Centre in Chicago, IL, between Friday the 1st and Sunday the 3rd of April, and our sales stand will have a limited number of all these releases. For more information on AdeptiCon please check for updates on our Events pages or visit
www.adepticon.org.

The Forge World Open Day will be held here in Nottingham at Warhammer World, on Sunday the 3rd of April. Not only will we have all these releases available to purchase in limited quantities, but you’ll be able to chat to the entire Warhammer Forge creative team. Model designers Mark Bedford, Steve Whitehead, Edgar Skomorowski and Keith Robertson, writer Alan Bligh and graphic artist Sam Lamont will be present throughout the day showcasing master models, work-in-progress, future projects and concept artwork as well as a proof copy of the first Warhammer Forge book, Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos.

Salute 2011 is held at the ExCel Centre in London on Saturday the 16th of April, and our sales stand will be packed with the current Warhammer Forge range as well as a few secret projects that we’ll be announcing in future newsletters."
