But yeah, I'm just getting into the meat of the campaigns, but the 10 pages of summary at the beginning cover the highlights of what happens after the Horned Rat implodes the first lord of decay (the Grey Seer). The grey seers are discredited, summon a verminlord, start pulling Morrsleib closer (the Verminlord reveals how to get around the Slann's wards around the moon), which apparently empowers all skaven (but them most of all). But then someone* blows up the ritual, and they can't restart it again. Meanwhile, Skryre plans to blow Morrsleib the hell up with a giant rocket, but things aren't going as planned. The impact of all this is really low, because its inexplicably written in 3rd person omniscient, and detail is essentially non-existent. Pestilens is of course invading Lustria with pretty much everything, barring one plaguelord out of seven, who's whereabouts are unknown (and worrisome to everyone else). Moulder is playing all sides until the time is right, and the warlord clans are all hoping to claim the empty seat on the Council, which comes back up for debate in 13 moons (and is likely to be awarded to whoever does best in the current phase of the Great Conquest. Meanwhile, Thanquol is heading back to Nuln with the Skryre forces, to seize the College of Engineering. That bodes well

But it is switching to a more personal POV once the campaigns start.

The big thing in the summary are the hints that the Verminlords are really the invisible hand at work here, and the Move the Moon Closer plot (and the Seer's inability to restart it once it gets disrupted) is all according to plan

- Thorgrim disarms Queek, takes him by the throat and stares intensively in his eyes while choking the life out of him, then breaking his neck - and for good measure stomps his head to a pulp, and spits on him.

- Ikit wakes up being badly burnt, his armor fused to his flesh. He orders a number of Warplock Engineers to remove his armor, but they cant, so he fries them with warplightning. It seems like he survives... It ends with him laying alone tried to pry his armor off, and the final sentence is "The coveted seat on the council of thirteen had been so close..."

- A spot on the council was promised to the one who brought Thorgrims head to Skavenblight. The Verminking (verminlord) arranged that Snitch killed Thorgrim, and promises Thanquol the head. Seems like Verminking (Skreet I think he's called?) had great plans for Thanquol all along.

- After the annihilation of Lustria (and most of Clan Pestilens with it) it doesnt say anything about their position on the council - though he warns Thanquol that Lord Skrolk is still alive, and Clan Moulder does secret things behind closed doors. Of Clan Mors we only get to know that the clan is nearly destroyed.

Ну а вообще просто гоблины на мировой арене особо не отсвечивают, сидели себе в горах да ездили караванами по степям всяким.

Это у скавенов везде и сеть шпионов, и туннели по всему Старому Свету и ракеты баллистические запускают.

Но в целом персонажи, по-моему, похожи. Я не так много знаю про Танкуола, но видимо он тот еще хитрый засранец, которому к тому же благоволят его боги.

+-, если сравнивать с большинством чтива по ФБ - вполне ничего так, ну и сами произведения не оч однородные. Там сколько то книг из G&F + еще цикл в его честь.

Кстати в Возвышении Рогатого Крыса мне понравилось как прописали Квика - дерзкая и бешенная тварь , такая альфа крыса .

Трактат Воллендропа из книжки датируется 2521 годом, то есть всего за несколько лет до нынешних событий Конца Времен. А в армибуке есть только одна дата - 2498 Battle of the Jaws. То есть когда он уже правил в Восьми Пиках.

там много чего
а) не все сланны умерли
б) часть из тех что умерла прикидываются кроаками
в) сначала скавены сместили орбиту Морселиб - из-за чего у большинства сланнов началась мигрень , но эту проблему Маздаманудий решил.
г)Потом скавены запустили баллистическую ракету и раскололи Морселиб чтоб устроить бомбардировку Люстрии осколками. вот тут сланны врубили щиты и большая часть склеила ласты
д) После/во время битвы за Итцу Кроак сказал самый мощный уберспел и отправил население Люстрии вместе с летающими городами в Void(видимо в жабий пузырь/домен). Итца все , Кроак после мегауберспела тоже все , Маздамундий физически все , но дух его жив и он типа релик прист или что-то аля.
е) Техуан или как там звать пророка Сотека в жестокой сече пал , Кроку-Гар - был ранен Скролком , но оклемался и выпилил/сильно изранил Нурглитча. В итоге Кроку выжил , как и скинк асторомансер. Про мелких героев(аля скинк на птеродактиле или или белый ящур) чувак с книгой не писал - возможно их просто не упоминают в книге как не оч значимые с точки зрения бэка фигуры.

Как-то так.

So, far (Lustrian Invasion part 1, still churning through the book.

The skaven (primarily pestilens) attack Itza, Tlanxla (City of the Sky) and Xlanhuapec (City of Mists) simultaneously.

First things first, the Slann are all KO'd from trying to stop the Grey Seers from bringing Morrsleib closer. Seriously, they're all out, bar Mazamundi (briefly), and somehow the skaven know this (and....I'm not quite clear on how. I have suspicions, but...); secondly, a daemonic incursion is happening at Xahutec, and most of the lizardmen armies are stemming the constant tide, under the supervision of Kroq-gar.

Notably, Xlanhuapec gets two full hosts, one pure pestilens and client clans, and the other with Skryre support. The pure pestilens hosts tries to bull through the mists following chained slaves with warpstone torches and it goes... badly. Ambushes, chaining slaves to dinos (and dragging the torches and bearers off, as they're all chained up) hallucinations and all sorts of craziness. The plaguelord leading this host escapes and flees back into the tunnels (and Skrolk butchers him outright for failing)

The second host borught some Skryre support, and the warp engineers use their Optics of Ridiculous Plot Power to just ignore the fog, spot all the ambushes and get to the city easily. They then proceed to butcher everything they can get their hands on and destroy all sorts of stuff (including a communicator that can talk to 'beings beyond the sky' who respond with elfish voices. The skaven wreck it). But skaven being skaven they start tearing the place down to the ground (and getting into infighting over the loot) before they get into all the ziggurats and kill all the slann. The temple guard and Chakax defeat most attempts, and he actually deals with a squad of gutter runners and full-fledged assassin, who does manage to stab him with a weeping blade. He ignores it however, and pulps the assassin against the wall as he waits for Chakax to fall over. They do butcher the mage-priest producing the protective mist around the city, just in time to see Kroq-Gar's army approaching, after a sudden reprieve from daemonic invasions. The skaven army gets badly mauled, though the plaguelord escapes. Given the damage they did to devices and spawning pools, Skrolk declines to kill this plaguelord (Blistrox)

Itza goes pretty well for the skaven. The Old Blood in charge is unimaginative and the skinks are focused on rebuilding things toppled when several warp-stone chunks fell off the moon in the Great Spell duel (they all landed in the jungle, however, not any of the cities). Plague catapults are the main feature here, and a passive Old Blood that doesn't really tried to attack, just waits for the skaven to advance into the city. His troops die horribly, and the few things he does try fail miserably. However the day is saved by Tehenhauin, Prophet of Sotek and a horde of skinks and snakes, who fall on the rear of the skaven army and pretty much wipe it out.

Tlaxtlan is probably the most interesting one in several ways, because it gives Tetto'eko's perspective on events. Apparently, one of the major reasons the Slann put protective wards on Morrsleib was because it blocks all prophetic divinations of the sky it blots out. With the Grey Seer's spell bringing it closer (and blotting out more of the sky), this naturally goes badly. The skink priests are essentially blind to fortune and fate. Tlaxtlan just suffers a straight forward assault, and it goes 100% in the skaven's favor. They overrun the city, Tetto'eko's gives orders for the skinks to evacuate the still comatose mage priests, but several entourages are too slow (wanting things to be neat, orderly and just so, even in the face of invasion), calls a meteor and starts to lead the refugees out of the city. However, given that his foresight his blocked, he doesn't know if the meteor will have much effect. 2 mage priests are caught and butchered, (or rather 'torn into bloody chunks' in front of skaven, skinks and everyone) initially, but Tetto'eko's hopes the skaven will stop and pillage the city. They don't, however, as the core of the army is hardcore pestilens fantatics and just don't care- which allows them to catch several more slann. Finally them temple guard just form a battle line, and the armies engage while the surviving (still comatose) mage-priests are carried out of the city.

The Tetto'eko spots his meteor arriving. Uh, yeah. With everything afoot with Nagash and Morrsleib and the elves, his spell was a lot stronger than expected. The meteor is big and mostly metal. Afterwards 2/3rds of the refugees are dead (Tetto'eko is happily at the front), and the two armies and the city of Tlaxtlan are obliterated. Not by the skaven, warpstone meteors or any cunning plots. But by Tetto'eko. Whoops. However the mage-priests are starting to wake up.

Thats it for Lustria for now (I'm half-way into Queek's invasion of 8 Peaks, and the dwarves frankly are being written like the Action Hero Space Marines article. A regiment of iron breakers supported by a regiment of Irondrakes, butcher hundred of skaven slaves at the Door of Something Or Other. Without a scratch. One gets grudge-filled and grumbling because his armor is scratched. They start taking a few casualties later, but the game vs. fluff dissonance is exceedingly high in this section.

I'll add more updates as I get to them.

Noteworthy things:

Both armies so far have a hidden verminlord giving 'advice' (and predicting failure if their advice isn't followed, while darkly hinting, at least to themselves, that things will still go badly even if their conspirators do listen).

I'm over a quarter of the way through the fluff parts of the book. The title character has appeared... once. To pay off an eshin assassin for blowing up the Grey Seer's moon ritual.

The timeline is a mess. The introduction makes it sound like all of this is happening after the other ET books. But at one point the Slann are just noticing Nagash's ritual as it happens, and the invasion of Lustria (Part 1) is all happening Autumn 2523-to Winter 2524, but it took the armies a year or so to get there. Yet all the initial attacks are supposed to happen simultaneously, triggered by a major change in the moon (either the Seers bringing it closer or the Councilmember of clan Skryre blowing it up).

Queek's initial assault is Autumn 2523 to Winter 2523, so things go out of sync fairly quickly.

The following chapter still follows Queek, but jumps to Autumn 2524 and runs to Winter 2525.

Nuln is Winter 2524 to Spring 2525, and again, this should have started in 2523 with the other invasions. (haven't gotten there yet, so this may be explained)

The second part of the Lustrian campaign is Spring 2525 - Autumn 2526

The empire campaign jumps to Middenheim in 2527

and then the dwarf arc wrap up in chapter 7 by jumping back to Winter 2525 and running to Autumn 2527.
