Tyranid Опубликовано 11 апреля, 2012 Жалоба Поделиться Опубликовано 11 апреля, 2012 Перелистывал вечерком рульбук трёшки и наткнулся на список "...exalted heroes whose names have become legend: Hieronymus Scathe Count Dire Captain Virgil Agamar Strick Lord Commander Macharius, Commisar Arden Stugen Deathwalker Colonel Gravitz..."

Colonel Gravitz looked over the scant forces that had survived the Tau assault, glad that any had lived at all but dismayed that it was so few. Still, he needed to strike back, to fight for this world and this town, and with his last remaining troopers he would free Respite - or at least make the Tau pay in blood for every square metre. "Men, it is a grave situation we face," he told them, his gravelly voice echoing through the underground bunker. "The Tau have attacked us without provocation, and our communications have been severed. We are unable to call for help from the rest of the Imperium, so it is down to us to try and free our town." There was a determined murmur from the assembled soldiers, and Gravitz smiled. At least they were willing. "I will organize a team to engage the enemy head-on, using the command Chimera as our transport. I need everyone else to find what weapons they can and attack the enemy's rear quarters. It's shoddy as hell, and any commissar worth his bolt pistol would shoot me for suggesting it, but if we can catch them in a pincer movement, they would be pinned between two or more attacks. If we can do enough damage, they may think twice about staying." There was a solemn silence as the PDF troopers digested his plan. None of them expected to live through such an attack, but it was that or roll over and die - or become part of their so-called 'Greater Good'. No Imperial citizen or soldier would ever accept that, preferring death in the Emperor's service than consorting with xenos. "I know what I ask of you, men, but I also ask you this - will you join me, and fight for your world, the Emperor's world, and make these foul xenos pay in blood for every step they take?! WILL YOU FIGHT WITH ME?!" The roar of determination that came back to him swelled his heart with pride. His men would fight, every last one of them, to try and retake Respite. Who knows, some of them may even win. A squad of Fire Warriors walked idly down an empty street, their pulse rifles held loosely across their chests. They were so sure of their technological superiority, their utter victory over the town, that none of them were ready for the ambush. A small team of PDF soldiers burst from the cover of a building, their autoguns chattering as they fired on full automatic. Several of the Fire Warriors were knocked off their feet by the solid rounds, their cyan blood staining the road. Eventually they managed to bring their slender pulse rifles to bear and return fire, but by then it was too late. Though the PDF took several casualties themselves, the Tau were put down in short order. The PDF moved over to the twitching corpses, ensuring they were dead with a single bullet to the head. One of them squatted down and began to examine one the long weapon of his enmey, but his comrade stopped him. "Leave it, Dallow, it is not blessed by the Machine God. It is not safe or reliable." Dismayed, Dallow dropped the weapon and made a warding gesture, before rejoining his fellow soldiers. There were still more Tau to kill. Sergeant Eret glanced around the building that sheltered him and his men, watching the lithe creatures that fed from the fallen. "Damned cannibals," he hissed, and turned to his squad. He was lucky; he had picked one of the few flamers for his squad before they had all been taken, and he knew that would aid them in cleansing the foul xeno scum from their town. "Okay men, on my word we charge the bastards, close with them as much as we can and take them down. No time for plans here boys, it's just do and die." One of the younger troopers in his squad raised a hand. "Don't you mean do OR die, sarge?" "That too," Eret repiled with a humourless grin, and hefted his chainsword. "Let's go, boys! FOR THE EMPEROR!" The whole squad turned the corner and ran straight at the Kroot ahead, autoguns blazing and yelling warcries. The Kroot returned fire, and three PDF soldiers fell before they reached the bird-like aliens. But reach them they did, and blood sprayed high into the air as Eret hacked at them with his buzzing chainsword. A Kroot leapt at him, its mouth open and a jagged knife in its hand, but he simply shot it twice in the face with his autopistol and carried on. His men fought hard, clubbing with their rifle butts and cutting with bayonets, but the Kroot were stronger, faster. Too many were falling to the wicked blades and the strange rifles, but still the PDF fought. Eret took a knife wound to his upper arm and he shot the knife's owner, and he was about to cut down yet another screeching alien when something sharp broke through his chest from behind. The blade withdrew and he turned to his attacker, cutting him down in a spray of blood and meat. He fought doggedly on, ignoring his wounds, until finally three shots slammed into his chest and he fell to the floor. Though Respite was taken, it would not go uncontested.
