  1. Have you perhaps considered making new article about the update on ModDB page, with patchnotes and whatnot? It's a bit concerning that the first article that people see when they load the page is from 2014 (info in the header is really not as visible as it should be). I hope that people you've had quarrels with on ModDB have cooled down about this whole asset thing long ago :S Edit: See you did this already! Cheers, man. I'm really happy to see this released and can't wait for downloads to finish. Thank you once again!
  2. Congratulations! Thanks for the update. Sincerely hope that this gets the attention it deserves.
  3. Amazing stuff, really well done! Hope everything goes well with the release, cheers.
  4. Uh, yeah. That's the reason I stated I'm not doing that at least 3 times across all posts, lmao.
  5. Eh, no worries mate. But this is a pretty weak argument. I don't want any of that and I don't pressure author to do or release anything. Those things are objectively necessary to maintain a healthy thriving community, which author seems to want (judging from his posts). Also, mods are and always were pure enthusiastic work from the modders, fueled by the wish to change/enhance their favorite games. Treating them like job that requires payment is really weird, and probably not very healthy. This isn't Bethesda, is it? As for author not getting any donations for this tremendous amount of work, I kinda think that is linked to the community being on the lifeline. So yeah. In the end of the day, I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, author is free to do as he pleases. Just giving some advice and trying to give some insight as a passerby.
  6. Let's assume you didn't read my UA example either then. It seems to be a fairly lively mod, no matter what I personally think about it. I can't really understand you. On one hand, you spit out facts like "mod/game community ded", but on the other, you still expect to find hundred of people praising it (and you) after saying that (while also removing votes because of all "trolls" and "haters" on the forum as well). That's a very weird way of thinking. Either way, hope you find piece within your mind and make the "Final" release of your mod someday. Cheers.
  7. Don't you see an issue with that yourself? Your mod's community isn't going to grow just because the mod is "good". Gaming communities don't grow because they're simply "good" in current year. They need exposure, they need PR, they need a living community where people can have fun and play their favorite game together, discuss balance, compete and whatnot. With cards played right, completely mediocre games like Fortnite and PUBG can turn from your average shooty-shooty games to most played games on the planet. To a lesser extent, that is appliable to any fan game/mod in development as well. Your mod was in "dead" public state for many years now, although you yourself kept developing it. It's no wonder that people just abandoned it at this point. All in all, if you really want to keep working on this mod on your own, I only have a single advice for you. If you want to "revive" your mod for the public (which you clearly seem to be interested in), find a small number of people that will be able to have direct contact with you, as well as manage your ModDB/Warforge page. I'm pretty sure there are at least few passionate fans that will be really happy to help you out with all this community thing, so you don't even have to actively seek them out. Just make a big announcement somewhere everybody could see. Otherwise, I doubt anything will ever change.
  8. You're quite a fun guy, you know that? "Community backlash is not my concern, although I want my mod to have a big loving community" Even UA, which I absolutely dislike, seems to have fairly active, frequently updated ModDB page, with a lot of people being active in the comments. Why's that, I wonder? Maybe the development team of the mod has some kind of community managers, which, instead of belittling people and calling them stupid left and right, actually communicate with the community in some way? Maybe they don't antagonize people for every "dumb" question they ask, even if those questions are sometimes reasonable and well mannered? Maybe they don't knee jerk to every criticism they receive? Maybe they have a nicely formatted ModDB page, which is actually pleasant to read and look at? They don't force users to go around foreign resources, file hostings and whatnot to actually get the latest release of the mod? (Why is that still a thing in the current year? I'm pretty sure Tyranid Mod team members are long gone and they probably wouldn't give a shit about someone using their assets, what, 5 years later?) I honestly have no idea about UA community in general, but they seem to have all of that at least to some extent. You clearly lack social interaction skills in this area, but I don't blame you for that. People are people, they can be different. What I blame you for, though, is your poor communication with already existing fanbase, lack of management on the ModDB page and complete lack of awareness that you brought all of this upon yourself. Your "lack of interest" in public life of the mod from the get go, coupled with your abysmal behavior, is the reason why so little people left in here to check the status of this project. Yes, this is a decade old game now. Even if new DoW games are not even remotely comparable to it, it's still a decade old game. It's not a big surprise that interest for it is dying out with time. Although, I sincerely think that your mod, with enough community management, could've changed that alone. After all, all later DoW games changed the gameplay formula too much to resemble the first game in any way. Another issue of yours is that you don't consider "low interest" to be "interest" at all (at least that's what your posts imply). There's at least a dozen or two of people that STILL are very looking forward for the update, not going to lie, myself included. Yet even if the update is "ready" for years already, as you yourself say, you won't share it with those people because of "low interest". And boy, does that tell not very nice things about your ego. I'm honestly not here to argue with you, nor to teach you manners. You do you. As much as I dislike your behavior and the way you interact with the remnants of this community, I still think your mod is one of the best DoW mods out there. So, once again, good luck to you and your mod.
  9. While the dude is quite harsh in his phrasing, he isn't wrong for the most part. Can you really consider well constructed criticism to be personal attack? I know I can't. This mod's creator is really far from being an angel. In fact, he acted like an ass on multiple occasions, be it this forum or the ModDB page. Attacking players, not being able to cope with criticism (both constructive and not so much), demanding attention (and even money at some point). These are just the things I can remember off the top of my head. I really loved this mod back in the day, I probably still do to this day. Amount of units, balance, lore accuracy, overall quality, working campaign. While this is subjective, I still think it's the most refined DoW mod out there. I'd really hate to see it go like this, instead of being an ongoing project with a growing fanbase. After all, 40K is cursed with mediocre/shitty games, with only few of them being really good. Guess that could be said about all GW IPs in general, which is also the reason we still come back to older "better" games. Sadly, I don't think authors attitude will allow that, for a number of reasons already mentioned. As for "much better modern RTS", Total War Warhammer II is the first thing to pop to mind out of recent releases. GrOrc I really love your mod. But the quality and greatness of your mod doesn't make you immune to any criticism related to your behavior. You really should find some sort of community moderator (or two) to manage community interactions, both in here and on ModDB. Best of luck to you and your mod.
